Turn off Variable Automatic Lighting on the Vive Pro 2

Recommended Posts

If you haven't noticed, load up a game where you have sky and dark ground. Look up and down, you will notice the display changes brightness automatically. Very weird to see and in actual fact it doesn't rapidly dim, but half a second delay. It is a pain for some games where it's high contrast with a sunny map, but dark shadows and the detail is washed out, so you can't see anything in those shadows.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\VIVEDriver\App\ViveVRRuntime\ViveVR\ViveVRServer\config\default.vrsettings

Open in notepad, search for brightness, then you will find it...

set htcvr.EnableBrightnessControl to false

Yeah there are 2 locations. It does work, after I changed it, I noticed no more automatic light adjustments. I posted this on Reddit too, people confirmed working for them.
