VIVE Cosmos Elite + GPU Compatibility Issues? [2x GeForce GTX Titan Hydrocopper]

Hello -- I'm a recent customer of the VIVE Cosmos Elite. I've spent the better part of a day troubleshooting issues with connecting the VIVE through my desktop (specs below). Wondering if anyone has some troubleshooting tips or experience with the errors I've been seeing and steps to get the headset to operate.

I'm able to run through most of the setup, but eventually, when SteamVR kicks on, all items may be paired/tracking, but my headset posts a static red LED with no display whatsoever, and I often get the following errors (most frequent to least frequent):

210 - The compositor is disconnected.

201 -- The headset display cannot be detected.

200 -- The headset cannot be detected.

001 -- Headset is not connected.

I also have the Wireless Adapter and often receive the latter two errors when I attempt to connect without the GPU wiring. FWIW I've been using the stock DisplayPort cable and the Converter that were sent to me.

I have tried every troubleshoot I've found, including unplugging cables & replugging, fresh reinstall of the software (VIVE, Steam, etc.), reboots, adjusting my graphics cards in SLI (I have 6 monitors and even when I turn down to 1 monitor, I can't get it to function), updated all drivers for USB/GPUs. I was able to go through the setup on another desktop that is less powerful, but has a fresher GPU (age-wise) and the device operates just fine, leading me to believe this is a hardware issue on my side.

The VIVE, Steam, and NVIDIA GeForce VR-readiness tests all indicate my computer should be able to render and handle VR, but the VIVE live chat support took a look at my logs and concluded that my GeForce GTX Titan isn't on their compatibility list. Anyone have any thoughts I should look into? Much appreciated.

Computer Specs:

- CPU: Intel i9-9820x @ 3.3 GHz

- GPU: 2x NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan Hydrocopper

- RAM: 64GB

~Additional Info~

It appears that I didn't have the correct compatibility adapter kit for the wireless adapter. So I'm hoping the new adapter I ordered for this week will correct the issues I'm getting on the wireless. Side. Either way, I can't explain why the direct connection via the GPU is giving me so much trouble.

Hi @TP0

Can you send me a log through Issue report when you see 210/201 next time?

This is a rare PC set up to us, I want to have internal review to see if there's any potential error.

Thanks,

Hi @C.T. — thanks for the inquiry. Wanted to share an update on my end. I received the appropriate wireless adapter kit for the Cosmos, and it’s supplying enough juice now for the headset display to be recognized while connected on wireless mode. I played around with it yesterday and it works well on the desktop described in my OP, though it brings my temp up from ~30C to 50C on the motherboard indicator 😜. Anyhow, I’m able to run 6 displays + VR without much issue to-date.

I will try to re-setup in wired mode this next weekend and send you the logs. Perhaps it’s really unique to my setup with respect to hooking into the DisplayPort. I haven’t tried an adapter (don’t have one) to see what would happen if I fed it to HDMI instead.

Hey,

So, It is still okay to run 6 monitors with Cosmos on wired, the key is that you just need to make sure the Main monitor and Cosmos DP is hooking up on the same GPU.
And your setup should work fine.

Don't do the HDMI to DP stuff, it won't work for sure.

Cheers,
