Hand tracking test 0.91 Vive Cosmos

Recommended Posts

Hi @davide445

If you what to use Vive knuckles, you need at least to use the HMD that supports lighthouse, be it either Vive Pro or Cosmos Elite. I'm not familiar with this, but I think you also need to use controllers that support knuckles.

Hi @zzy

Cosmos Elite it's just the Cosmos (we already own) with the external tracking faceplate. I just didn't find the faceplate purchasable, or is it somewhere?

Hi @davide445

I'm not sure if the faceplate is purchasable by itself. You might need to buy the whole HMD.

@VibrantNebula I think you might know more on this topic, was reading your posts on another thread.

Will be the external tracking faceplate available for purchase? I will be honestly really discouraged if not.

All,

The faceplate will be available as a standalone purchase from Vive.com upon release for those with existing Cosmos HMDs.

@zzy @VibrantNebula

https://www.vive.com/uk/support/cosmos/category_howto/connecting-a-usb-device.html

Before looking at knuckles solution (with all the related costs for faceplate, base station and controllers that probably push the total price over the Index full package, and also will anyway let our inexperienced users with something to loose / break / hit) was looking if it's possible to attach a Leap Motion to Cosmos.

From the above article seems an USB-C is available, so probably an USB-a to USB-C adapter will be needed. But will be good for power and use it?

Did you have a Leap Motion hanging around to have a check? Just to not wait two weeks to receive the Leap Motion and discover I can't use it.

@davide445 - You can use the onboard USB on the Cosmos if you're using wired - not on wireless. It's a USB-C header.

If you're thinking of using knuckles, I'd err on the side of ordering before HL:Alxy decimates their stock.

@VibrantNebula not interested in wireless, since I'm planning (if fits with the budget) to use a treadmill in the final setup.

In this way no controllers (using Leap Motion) and no messing with teleportation, having the headset wired will be not a problem. If all of this will fail I'll need to return back to the knuckles and wireless path.

The only point is if someone can check if Leap Motion is working with Vive Cosmos 😁

@davide445 I'd test it if I had one on hand but I haven't seen a loose LM unit in at least a year. Love their tech.

I have used other USB devices like USB-C -> 3.5mm with Cosmos - just not LM.
