As some of you already mentioned here, there ARE solutions for integration a PCI-e card in a laptop. But don't get ur hopes up high just yet. (fi look at this : https://www.banggood.com/Mini-PCI-E-Version-V8_0-EXP-GDC-Beast-Laptop-External-Independent-Video-Card-Dock-p-1011222.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=CN) These "solutions" are (as mentioned) NOT compatible with GT1030, GTX1050, GTX1050TI, GTX1060TI, GTX1070TI, GTX1080TI, which just happen to be the cards most peeps are using, right? But perhaps there are other pieces of hardware out there? Or is it just *impossible* to get the amount of datastream which is necessary to run through some cheesy-ass adapters?

**bleep**, i felt so good being able to play really wirelessly, and now this **bleep**.    But from what i see & hear, here, and on the rest of the HTC fora, HTC should really put some effort into making this work, since a lot of people are craving for this thing to work on their laptops.   I thought i had a really bad-ass gaming laptop.   Go HTC! Go.  And make this work.  Real soon.  As in, before end-of-year :)

,

The wireless adapter pushes up against the limitations of generalized PC HW architecture and is one of the first commercialized WiGig products to come to market. We're fully aware of the demand from all verticals to see wireless work on laptops and are definitely working behind the scenes on understanding how laptops play into the support schedule. That said, there are some pretty major architecture hurdles and laptop architectures are far less standardized and far more proprietary than desktop OEM hardware.

As it stands, the wireless adapter is only compatible with Desktop architecture that supports a full sized PCI-E - we'll certainly make announcements via official channels if that changes at any point in the future.

Thanks for your swift reply David, it's a clear explanation!

Guess i'll have to buy a new desktop and another Vive to make the wireless headset work :)

Unfortunately the wireless headsets for the Vive & the Vive Pro are incompatible?  I would have bought the pro otherwise...

Hey whatever, kids will love to play Elven Assassin in a 2 player multiplayer mode by themselves....

Off to work now to make up for the necessary $$$

Could you be a bit more specific here? "Unfortunately the wireless headsets for the Vive & the Vive Pro are incompatible?  I would have bought the pro otherwise... "? I'm confused by this statement.

The wireless adapter is compatible with both Pro and the OG Vive - you just need an additional attach kit if you're going to use Pro which was the concession that allowed us to create 1 hardware SKU rather than 2.

Ooowkaaay.  Probably my bad. Again.

I (as a developer myself) am aware of the things developers are aware of.  Perhaps things should be made clearer by the PR department.  I really had the idea there was a different version for the wireless adapter for the Vive & the Vive Pro.  I couldn't really see this on your website right away, which, probably is a shame.  Haven't ordered anything just yet, so if you could enlighten me what i need i would be glad to take a look into that.  Thanks again for your reply. greets, p
