  1. Hello, I got a second hand vive pro 1 without the cable and linkbox for a very good price. When I plugged the headset with my 2.0 linkbox and cable from my pro 2 I had a lot of sparkles on the right side of the screen just like it was a damaged cable, the weird thing is that the pro 2 works just fine with the cable. So I tried the vive pro with it's shorter cable from the wireless kit that I sold and it worked fine without the sparkles, so do you think it's possible that the cable is damaged and it only shows on the first vive pro and not the 2 ? Or is it the pro 2 cable which is doesn't play nicely with the older headset. I need to know before ordering a new linkbox and cable, I would definitely buy the 1.0 cable for sure but would the linkbox 2.0 compatible ? The only linkbox 1.0 I can get from my country is an always-on linkbox which is not ideal. I'm a little scared if the headset is showing damage only with longer cable (the normal 5m on) and showing no sign of failure with the shorter as it is only showing on the right screen.

  4. Hello, I'm the vive pro 2 professional. Or the DOCTOR VIVE PRO 2 It's within spec, it usually happens in two scenarios : 1 - You turned off the Linkbox before turning off steamvr and viveconsole or to put it simply (turned off the headset hardwarelly instead of softwarelly) which can cause multitude of temporary or somewhat long-term display artifacts. 2 - You didn't turn off the Linkbox while(you went to eat and have put the headset on the table, yes I know who you are don't do this) or while not using the headset, same thing, multitude of artifacts could happen after another session. The dark Splotchy effect should fade away with heat, so just use the headset for at least a good hour or two it should be good again. (And normally never come back) Keep in mind that those issues are not normal but within specs, which means it's a disease of any vive pro 2 not just yours, it all depends on how you use it and how bad your unit is. Some people would get permanent burn of the display like white spots, those fade with heat but eventually come back after the headset cool down. (Fortunately for some of you, it happens after one day of use if your display is faulty, if you had the headset for a while and never notice white spots, you'll never get them) white spots are not from forgetting about the linkbox it's actually a display defect but a minor one, you can live with it since it fades away when playing and it's not that intrusive unless there's a lot of them. Dark splotchy effects are most probably from a bad shutdown of your VR headset, as I saw, It's been a year since you have your headset so I assume that you properly turn off your linkbox after use. Some of the other artifacts caused by a bad shutdown/or none are numerous : Vertical lines (not scanlines with head movement those are just bad insulation between sensors/audio/display which cause artifacts in the display scanlines with head movement, audio buzz or static noise which depends on the backlight strength and tracking sensors, and a head tracking that curiously doesn't work as well as a vive or vive pro 1 or index, "these tests are subtle noticeable things, I tested a total of 5 vive pro 2's with my RMAS") Shimmering in the right or both displays (cutting, out of sync, chopped images) Ghost images and Flickering. Those problems below thought are non-software related problems that you should see if it's worth getting repaired or replaced (keep in mind that either you could get a worse unit each time which can make this decision very difficult unless it makes your headset unplayable or you can't accept a minor problem with your headset, if you're a perfectionist this headset would be a nightmare if you encounter any of these issues) : -Scanlines (This is the most common issue with the headset, whenever you turn your head you see like moving Screen Door Effect or lines that are greenish/dark which are not supposed to show at all, it's as I said a problem with the sensors interfering with the display which makes sense because with deep testing it only happens when the sensors are ON and not OFF, which means whenever you move your head, the very slight movement will cause scanlines, it's a defect, you can try to get your hands on a unit that doesn't have it but it's the most common issue a lot of units have it, also CTDI HTC doesn't acknowledge this issue no matter how real this problem is. You can still use your headset, it's one of the non-invasive probs) -Static Audio Noise/Audio Buzz in the headphones, this is not within spec, it's a problem which also results from bad insulation, not all vive pro 2s have them but the majority has, it can be repaired with CTDI HTC, so you can send it for repairs and it will be repaired but if you live in Europe it's a gamble, they do not test units properly and can send you a broken headset which happened to me. -White spots which fades away and come back are repairable if it's not a big deal for you don't send it for repairs also if you don't want to deal with having to return it multiple times. (the issue doesn't seem to grow with time) Tho it's not healthy so if you have time to spend and really love the headset and wanna try to reach for a perfect display, no issues there, return it maybe you'd be lucky, some lads had a good experience with HTC tho the majority from the US hm... I wonder why.. -Blackouts or sudden black screen that comes and goes is hardware failure that could be the headset, the cable or the linkbox (try to ask a replacement for those accesories first which HTC would glady send to you, same if you have whitespots, also don't forget for each issues always do crosstestings, try with another computers etc..) then if that didn't do the trick, try for a replacement if you had the chance to buy it from a retailer if not RMA. -A display failure that wouldn't go away or always come back eventually is a fixed hardware pinpointed problem, same thing, return it for replacement or RMA at HTC CTDI.

No, the issues you've had are glitches, I had them too, white spots we got are actual physical defects of the panel, it has been proven, personally I'll not send it back as I already did 5 times and it's a nightmare.. the customer service is too cheap and bad, I'm dealing with the issue + a dead pixel appearing at 120hz, it's sad but that's what I got, some of us are lucky enough to have these headsets I'm not gonna spend my entire life trying to have the good lotteryn you can't complain anywhere, it's your purchase, your decision. I'm delaing with disabilities, VR helps me getting through it, I just hope to get my hands on a better one in the future.

  7. @DarkPowers does it fade away for you after a while ? Mine does, I think there's a chance for it to come back if steamvr crash, BSOD or you shutdown the headset before steamvr and such. That's hypothetical tho, it might just be the panel dying

The headset has future-proof HW in them but they went cheap on making the afterthought vive pro 2 trying to refill a marketshare for enthusiast users grabbing the panels from the vive focus 3 and plunging it inside without proper connections or isolation, sorry but I'm screaming it outloud, I dgaf if I'm gonna be hated, delete the topic if you want admins but holy cow I have contacts with vr tubers and no issues with me making a video debuking all of your freaking scamy and non-professional handling of your own hardware.

  10. So... I'm not the only one experiencing this.. Neat I'm just done with this headset franky, for me personally it comes and goes and I have no idea what triggers it, I think (hope) it might be software related if I turn off the linkbox without steamvr or because when I put the headset down and it's running with a black screen damaging components, franky it seems useless to send your headset, or it's gonna get worse or they'll send it not working at all, they just don't care, you spend crazy amount of money and they don't even know how to fix the headset...
  11. No problem ^^ Wait what, you paid $140 ??? Are you out of the warranty period already ? America I presume ? only a year ? oh my gosh Did they say anything about the repair process ? You can ask them a report file which details what have been done. My issue tho, as you saw is a long colored broken looking strip that appears on the right edge of the right lense (I thought you guys had the same problem when you said "shimmering effect") it comes and goes and I think what might be the cause is or when I'm turning off the headset before steamvr or when I let the headset down when a game is running, I think no one should ever let the headset running a black screen when the linkbox is on, it might kill the panels or it just glitches out(but I think it breaks tbh), either way this headset is really really bad in so many ways. Waiting impatiently for an alternative to forget about this nightmare.
  12. Is it the same as the pictures I shared ? If it is only a refreshrate issue, like chopped frames it is likely not hardware but an issue somewhere else, it happened to me once in a while you need to restart it, try resetting the headset, hold down the button on the headset and hold the linkbox power button for about 15 seconds then release it should reset and redownload the firmware.
  13. It's crazy to see that we all have the same problems at the same spot, this is absolutely ridiculous... Like I wanna laugh at this how RIDICULOUS this headset is. Do something for me HTC come on now.

Same here, after replacing the headset 3 times, having white spots, vertical scan lines and static noise in headphones, a dead pixel.... a brand new problem with usage : 309187624_5886740754693851_1315814706044178855_n.mp4 Truly, truly, mind blowing and ridiculous. I've spent 200€ on repairs because of shipping back and forth, I accepted these screen issues hoping it would not get any worse, I've been betting a little too much, it's a shame really.
  15. Hello, in steamvr home, no man's sky, recroom and etc I can see objects and the area popping in and out of the sides of the field of vision which is really annoying, any ways of fixing this please ?
  16. Yep, Thank you very much, for now, I had a good deal with my retailer at LDLC, they tested the one that I sent to them, they confirmed the failure and they will of course send it to HTC. The deal is again a new sealed replacement within their stock a third time, they will this time open the new sealed one and test it themselves to see if the displays are ok since both of headsets I had with those spots were not there the very first day but always 2 or 3 days later. That is really weird, the very first one didn't have these things on there I had made an rma for the vertical scanlines and the static noise in headphones but right now I don't even care about these issues anymore I could live with it even if it's far from perfect and there are still no fix with collumn correction like the index. When considering how cautious I was towards the headset and the fact that I have the original vive since may 2016 and it still works like magic I'm really wondering why is there so many failures with the display, maybe I'm just as some others with extremely bad luck.
  17. IT IS NOT sun exposure, my room is isolated and there's absolutely no lights coming in. A screen burn would NOT disappear after a while just like in my case and doesn't look as the spots showing there, it looks like some sort of display glitch or a default in manufacturing display-wise, seems like a bad isolation between the panel and the backlight coverage which does reinforce with heat which explains why It fades away about 40 min with heat but come back when cooled down not using it.

  19. Hello and thank you for your answer. For the sunlight exposure it's impossible since I don't have any windows in my room, it looks like white spots on lcd displays see the photos I joined + an actual video of my vive pro 2 which 2 of them are visible on screen and they always disappeared about 40 minutes of use when the screen heats up.. Any thoughts ? My retailer gave me 2 replacements and both of them had these spots one with 3 spots on both lenses and the other with 8 on the left lense, the really weird thing is that they disappear when they heat up for 40 minutes, but when you stop and run the headset again after it cooled down it becomes really noticeable again. 20211116_085140_001.mp4
  20. You should RMA quick, franckly just the fact I had 2 of them with spots makes me wonder where they are getting the panels and how they handle it.

I'm in France and I got the issue with two replacement headsets too, same thing after 2 days of use I had these tiny white spots and they fade away when heating up/ It's my 5th RMA, the first one I've had let htc ctdi from romania repair the headset but they broke the tracking.... They do not test afterwards so both me and my retailer were absolutely mad. I got two replacements from my retailer but two of them had white spots, one with 3 of them on both screen and the one I got recently 8 in total which is ridiculous.... So that will be my 3rd replacement but this time my retailer are testing it themselves before sending it back to me knowing the issue. HTC is aware of the quality control issue and their really bad quality repairs but it's hard to believe that they care that much... You are the proof that there are a lot of failing units. Actually no one at HTC gave me an apology nor my retailer LDLC for all of this mess.. I deserved a working headset the day I bought it. 8 months since I got the headset 6th of june. Woah. Can you guys at least tell otherwise ? @Synthesis @C.T. @HackPerception You all know what happened for me as you can access to my support ticket.
