  1. I always had issue with my Vive Pro 2 and Windows 11. Oftentimes image in any game would be a stuttering shaky mess. This only happened after upgrading to Windows 11. I was able to mitigate the issue somewhat by changing to one monitor only ( have 2), and disabling Defender for gameplay - but it would still come back off and on. Had a support ticket and HTC even replaced my headset, but issue persisted and they advised me likely was an issue with Windows 11 as they are not fully compatible yet. Now I will say I have seen reports from some that had no problem with Windows 11 so may have been something peculiar with my rig who knows. Have also seen reports by others that had the same issue I did. I got a Varjo Aero about a week ago and so far it is doing great so I guess is a moot point for me at this time.
  2. I myself get terrible stuttering of the game image in Windows 11 and my two monitor setup. I have to disable my secondary monitor and have only one running in order to get this to stop. It was never this way with Windows 10 for me so I assume the issue is with Vive Console and Windows 11. Neither my Index or my Reverb G2 has any issue in Windows 11, just my Vive Pro 2.
  3. Interestingly I never had the issue with my Index using Steam VR. Only with Vive Console and Steam VR. I will check that thread out.
  4. I would also note I need to change to Display 1 only prior to launching Vive Console. If I don't change it till after I launch Vive Console then the issue can come back. As long as I launch it after I change to only one display I am golden.
  5. Well seems I have finally resolved this crazy stuttering and shaking of image issue for me that has been plaguing me since upgrading to Windows 11 back on Oct. 5th. I run two monitors, with my Windows desktop set to extend on the second monitor. I went into Windows display settings and set the image to only display on Monitor 1. Issue has completely gone away. Everything is solid. I went back in and extended them again, and once again the stuttering and shaking of image returned in game. Now I have several hours of gaming in with my display only on Monitor 1 and issue does not happen. I thought I had tried this previously in my troubleshooting but perhaps I only tried unplugging the second monitor and not making the change in the Windows 11 display settings I am not sure. In any event as long as I only project Windows to one monitor everything is golden. I would note I ran two monitors previously on Windows 10 and did not have this issue with the Vive Pro 2. But I also changed my main monitor to a new one around the same time. For whatever reason with these two monitors and Windows 11 the Vive Pro 2 just does not like them both displaying. My main monitor is an Acer curved 1080p 144 Hz monitor. My second monitor is a Samsung 1080p 60 Hz monitor. @C.T. I hope this info might be beneficial to HTC. For now I am just a really happy camper I can now game all day with the Vive Pro 2 without having to fight this issue constantly. Not a big deal for me to change my display to one monitor only for when I am gaming so I can live with that. I would also add running both monitors did not affect my Index nor my Reverb G2, only the Vive Pro 2. Very nice to have this headset operational again.
  6. Ok thanks, I was hearing more but after the last install of Vive Console I now hear three when powering on the Link Box. Previously it was like 7.
  7. Question for any Vive Pro 2 users or @C.T. When you power on your Link Box, how many connection beeps do you hear or should you hear?
  8. I have unplugged and boxed my Vive Pro 2 back up and uninstalled software. Gone back to my Reverb G2 for now. Maybe I will check again if and when I see an update released that says it also has some Windows 11 compatibility fixes. Whilst I could get it to work occasionally the hassle of going through it was just not worth it. But yeah your issue is very much different. I am not going to do a format and clean install back to Windows 10 just for this headset especially since I have no issues at all in Windows 11 with any other headset. Both Reverb G2 and Index working just fine. I really liked my Vive Pro 2 and hate that it is now useless for me.
  9. It was Controlled Folder Access in Defender. It is off by default and apparently I must have turned it on when I was messing around in Defender settings doing my testing. I turned it back off and that message went away.
  10. Now I am getting warnings from Defender that the Vive software is trying to access my documents folder. This can't possibly get any weirder. Going to try a software reinstall.
  11. Well today I tried the same and it did not work this time. I had to launch and exit Vive Console/Steam VR three times before it was finally playable on the fourth attempt. Just no rhyme or reason to it.
  12. I have issues with my Vive Pro 2 and Windows 11, installing though was never one of them. They are not considered fully compatible with Windows 11 yet. Mine worked great under Windows 10 though, hoping HTC can get this resolved sooner rather than later. Too late for me to roll back to Windows 10.
  13. I got around the issue and gamed all day today successfully in the Vive Pro 2 by disabling the following in Windows 11 Defender Settings: Real Time Protection and Cloud Delivered Protection. Did not have the issue at all today, Vive Pro 2 ran beautifully all day. I turned them back on when done gaming. Hoping this info might be of some use... Not saying this is the exact cause, just that by doing this I was able to use the device today with no problem at all.
  14. All the games I am currently running have seen the issue on my end with Vive Pro 2. DCS, IL-2 Great Battles, MSFS 2020, MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries with VR Mod. Have about three more I have been away from for a bit I just have not tested yet. For me I think it is safe to say when it happens it will happen with whatever game I launch. But at least now I know how I can get it to work with a little effort. Really strange. And when it works it works beautifully. For MSFS 2020 I actually prefer my Reverb G2 anyway to use Open XR Developer Tools for WMR. But for all the others I prefer the Vive Pro 2. I also tested my Index with the above games, and it did not have the issue. Which leads me to think it is a conflict within the Vive software and Windows 11. But who knows...
  15. No at this point that would require a format and clean install of Windows 10 and I am not going to do that for just one headset when my others work perfectly. I at least have found a way around the issue that works for a good part of the day, while an annoyance to have to do that at least now I can get it to where I can at least use it when I want. If I had of been smart enough to catch it when it actually happened right after upgrading to Windows 11 yeah I would have rolled it back in a heartbeat. Sadly I did not get the dots connected in time.
  16. I guess I am a glutton for punishment but have installed Vive Console again and have been messing around with it again all day. I am convinced the problem at least for me lies with the Defender security settings in Windows 11. I have been experimenting with adding certain files from the Vive Console and Steam software to an exclusion list in Defender. I have managed to get it to where I could game with the Vive Pro 2 a good part of the day today without the crazy shaking/stuttering of the image going on. I am not saying yet this is a permanent solution for me as it is way too soon to tell. But I do believe it is definitely security related with Windows 11 and my Vive Pro 2. I know in Windows 10 I did not have this issue at all and did not need to mess with it's security settings. I am sure I will be messing around with it some more over the next few days and will report back on how it goes. I would so love to get it to where it never does this again on me but am not real hopeful there, but seems I am getting it to where I can at least game with it some. And again I would note both my HP Reverb G2 and Valve Index works beautifully in Windows 11. None of this crazy shaking/stuttering of image going on with those. On a positive note, my Index cameras are behaving properly now with the Vive Pro 2, they power on and sleep appropriately now when launching and exiting the Vive Console software. No idea what happened previously with them.
  17. Well had some time this afternoon so thought I would give another go just for the heck of it. Installed Vive Console and updated it to the Beta. My Lighthouse trackers behaved properly this time, ramping up and sleeping appropriately so that was good. However image once in any game is still a shaky stuttering mess. Horrible. I have laid the expensive paper weight off to the side once more... So back to Reverb G2 and Index again.
  18. Thanks for the feedback. No bluetooth on my motherboard. I did two things when this issue started, installed Windows 11 and also a new main monitor - an Acer 144 Hz monitor. I run two monitors. I tried lowering the refresh rate on the new Acer to 60 Hz and that did not help, also tried disabling one where I only had one monitor running and that did not help. I also have a Reverb G2 and a Valve Index, both these headsets are working beautifully. Only the Vive Pro 2 is unusable currently for me. I got it in June when released, and it ran great up until I had installed Windows 11. Based on the feedback from support along with everything I have tried I am assuming the conflict lies between the Vive Console software and Windows 11. I would also note I could get the headset to work ok for an hour or two by disabling real time protection in Windows Defender, but it is only temporary and comes back again even with it still disabled.
  19. My Vive Pro 2 does not run properly on Windows 11. After much troubleshooting with support and even a headset and cable replacement, it was determined that they are not fully compatible with Windows 11 yet. As soon as I launch any game the image shakes and stutters like crazy. Exit the game and few seconds later it is fine. Just can't game with it. I hope they are on this big time because at this time I have an expensive paper weight sitting here by my desk. I have an Index and a Reverb G2 that both work beautifully with Windows 11 so at least I can still do some VR gaming but really missing that Vive Pro 2 which I paid good money for. And no going back to Windows 10 is not an option now for me. From what I have seen seems currently Oculus Quest 2 is having a very similar issue with Windows 11 with constant shaking stuttering of image when launching a game.
  20. @C.T. Just wanted to bring to your attention based on what I am reading on some other forums seems the Oculus Quest 2 suffers from the same behavior in Windows 11 as the Vive Pro 2. Same symptoms with major stuttering and very low fps when launching a game. I know not all Vive Pro 2 users are affected but some like me certainly are. Might be a clue in there somewhere, at least I hope. Sure would love to see this get resolved. Currently my Vive Pro 2 is unusable and I sure am missing it.
  21. Yeah this message was just posted two hours ago on the Oculus forum. Seems HTC is not the only ones having some compatibility issues with Windows 11. They posted it shortly after I posted on there about my issue with HTC Vive Pro 2 and Windows 11.
  22. Yeah I can see your point. For me I always like to be on the cutting edge so to speak and I know it comes with some risks lol. I installed Windows 11 on the day it became available. And the issue with my Vive Pro 2 is the price I paid I guess. In hindsight if I had known I probably would have waited a bit. At least I have two other decent headsets I can use in the meantime.
  23. Just got this response back from HTC support on the logs I sent in: So yeah I will set the headset aside for a while, will try again in a few weeks. No desire to go back to Windows 10 at this point. I got two other headsets that work fine.
  24. Well all the issues came right back again today, both the shaking/stuttering of the image whilst in a game and the Lighthouse Base Station issue with the Vive Pro 2 came back a little later as well. Already tried removing everything and reinstalling a couple more times today. I am done. Personally I don't think the HTC software is quite ready for Windows 11 yet. Going to have to set this expensive paperweight aside for a while, maybe I will get back and check it in a few weeks. Way too many issue with it right now and it is totally unusable for me. I have an Index that continues to work beautifully on this system as well as a Reverb G2 that does. My Vive Pro 2 is ok for looking around in Steam VR environment, but it darn sure is not going to work in any gaming for me. What a waste.
