  1. Hello, Recent versions of SRanipal (1.3.6.5 onwards, including most recent 1.3.6.11) seem to have an incredible amount of log spam in EyeCameraModule.log when the eyemodule is initialized, spamming the same message "[EyeCameraModule] [202x-xx-xx xx:xx:xx] [LOG] eyefeature switch0" at seemingly 120 times a second. This has led to text log files of many gigabytes of nothing of value in a location most users would never know to check, effectively becoming a (albeit slow) hard drive bomb . SRanipal does not need to log "eyefeature switch0" every frame of the eye tracker. The entirety of SRanipal logs in general could use a rewrite to actually contain useful information but at the very least, please get rid of the eyefeature switch log message from being repeated so frequently. In addition, SRanipal 1.3.6.10 and onwards will simply hang on initialization, eating up system resources and giving no indication of why its frozen itself, if run without a Vive Pro series headset connected or if not using VBS+Focus3. This feature was seemingly added for no reason other than to spite users of the Vive Facial Tracker who do not use it with a Vive Pro headset. Just like with Vive Trackers, there are many users of the Vive Facial Tracker that use it with other headsets, Vive or not. Please revert this behavior to how it was before. Lastly, the bundling of SRanipal exclusively with Vive Console makes very little sense: neither of the two Vive headsets that use Vive Console actually need SRanipal. A Vive Pro Eye user has to install a ~1.6 Gb program they will never run to use their headset's eye tracking feature. A Focus 3 user has to do that too to use their headset's addon features with existing PC apps that use the SRanipal runtime, and I will assume that the XR Elite will also fall victim to this.
  2. Has anyone else with the Focus 3 Eye tracker experience "Eye Tracker Error. Eye tracker did not work correctly. Please press power button to fix this error" after updating system software? Absolutely no hardware changes, eye tracker just refuses to work after the update.
  3. Hi @KyleC Thanks for letting me know. After updating Vive Console and SRAnipal (reports 1.3.6.9), still same behavior as before. Eye expressions seem to perform consistently in FaceGym without facial tracker installed/on. Maybe there is a problem with eye expressions if it gets double initialized? (initialized called again before properly being closed by the previous app)
  4. Hi Kyle, I tried the new SRAnipal.dll and ViveSR_Client.dll with the selection of SRAnipal apps, the behavior seems similar to before (only the Eye demo seemed to work consistently), though I was able to get FaceGym to work once. I did notice however, that after removing the facial tracker from the Focus 3 headset, the Unity Eye Demo and FaceGym was able to more reliably start with eye expressions regardless of whether SRAnipal was already running or not. Other apps I've tried consistently had issues however, and interestingly, if eye expressions was running before (for example, in the FaceGym demo), the other app will report whatever the previous value it had from the working app. Starting the non-working apps without SRAnipal having been run before will result in eye expression values of 0, but occasionally NaN value or other random values may be reported (see screenshot for example, the app is https://booth.pm/ja/items/3668465). I must reiterate: all apps I used for testing were using the latest dlls provided here, and in all cases, eye gaze works normally (with or without the face tracker attached).
  5. Hi Kyle, The submitted issue number is 20221115082143.
  6. Of all the things listed this is the only difference: my headset has been on the beta program and thus has been using 5.3.999.646. Would this potentially be an issue? I can't seem to "unenroll" from the beta to use the release version.
  7. Hi C.T., I used the Unity EyeV2 demo scene to test the behavior of eye expressions using the Focus 3 Eye Tracker over SRAnipal. For any app I ran I made sure it was using the new SRAnipal.dll provided above. Some things I noticed: It can occasionally work for the EyeV2 demo. It only seems to work on the Vive Console BETA, which includes a SRAnipal exe that reports a version number 1.3.6.8. I have not seen it working with live console version (this release, 2.0.21.4), which has a SRAnipal that reports 1.3.6.6 It only seems to work once for the EyeV2 demo, after every SRAnipal start. That is, if the SRAnipal process is not running, and the demo then SRAnipal is started, then the eye expressions (blink) work (and work quite well). Quitting the demo and starting it again will always result in eyes closed. Eye expressions don't seem to work regardless for other apps, started in the exact same way as the EyeV2 demo as stated in point 3. The other app works perfectly fine for the Vive Pro Eye, and uses V2 of the API as well. Starting the EyeV2 demo such that it does show eye expressions working, then starting another app that uses the eye data, caused the Eye Tracker to produce an error message in the headset UI (headset OS error message). Eye gaze continued to work fine however, in the PC application, just no eye expressions. It's frustrating that it's almost working right and still not quite. If you can look into what might be causing these issues I am seeing, it would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Hello C.T. Where would one find the new dlls to replace in app content folders? The latest SDK download on the Vive website is only for 1.3.6.6.
  9. Hi C.T., I see that the latest SRAnipal SDK available on the website is 1.3.6.6: Latest (1.3.6.6) - Developer Resources (vive.com) For a C project, would it be enough to use the dlls from 1.3.6.6, or should there be new version for 1.3.6.8? Also, is there any difference compared to before (Vive Pro Eye) to access the eye expression parameters?
  10. Hi C.T., The update for Vive Console should have pushed SRanipal to v.1.3.6.8 right? With this newest SRanipal, latest Focus 3 software, VBS 1.09.8 on PC and 1.0.12.13 streaming app on Focus 3, there are still no eye expressions. Is there more that needs to be done?
  11. Eye expressions don't seem to be supported by SRanipal, despite being on the beta Focus3 software and installing 1.0.12.13 client version in the headset. Is eye expression support only through openxr?
  12. Update: I have now learned you can get this Software update after joining the beta. It was not clear that this software update was under beta.
  13. Hello, what can be done to force a software update? Pressing the "Check for Update" button in the system UI says that the software is up to date, except it's not (the system is running the previous software release 5.0.999.558).
  14. Hey Airmouse, I actually had similar issues as you did. I couldn't for the life of me figure out a solution. I eventually got a replacement tracker (a horrendous experience) and its just kind of been working over wireless (for Benaclejames's software). I recently tested it with the Vive Pro 2 cable and linkbox, and it worked fine for everything else. Obviously I have no solid conclusion (and this is something Vive themselves should be looking into but they obviously aren't) but it seems it could have either been 1. a faulty lip tracker, which seems unlikely as the replacement I got had the same manufacturing time frame, 2. a bad headset cable, which may also be related to 3. bad linkbox?
