I saw there was a similar post regarding the Asus Zephyrus G14, but thought I would make a post for those of us that just got the new Asus Zephyrus G15 GA503 and are trying to connect the OG Vive. Here's what we know so far:
The HDMI Port on the G15 GA503 is NOT connected to the dedicated GPU, it's connected to the iGPU. Major bummer I know. So you can't use this port for the Vive.
Both USB-C ports support Display Port for video out and ARE connected to the dedicated GPU.
DON'T BUY a USB-C to HDMI cable to plug in to the Vive Link Box!!! You will get a black screen on the HMD. Doesn't work. Works fine if I plug the cable in to a HDMI-equipped monitor, but not for the VIve. The guy in this topic tried the same thing on his G14 and had the same experience. (If anyone has had success with one of these cables, please let me know)
DO BUY a USB-C to Mini DisplayPort cable. Again, the guy in this topic tried this and got his HMD to work. Make sure it's mini display port, because the full size DP connection obviously won't fit. I'm not going to post the one that I currently have on order until I confirm that it's working, but there are a lot of options on Amazon.
So there you go, just thought I'd drop this in the forum for anyone googling the same problem. Man, I forgot how much work it is to game on PC, sigh...
