  1. C.T. - Not sure how you do a private message but thanks for your offer of assistance and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have an ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme. Updated the BIOS last weekend. Do you know if the asmedia usb 3.1 extensible host controller driver windows 10 Version 1.16.61.1 is compatible with the ASUS MB or is it universal? I located it on the Dell support site but haven't installed it yet Just curious, but what leads you to believe that the headset not detected error with the external tracking faceplate installed could be related to an issue with the USB driver? You can reach me at kent-roberts@verizon.net . I could use your help and thanks again.
  2. I purchased a VIVE Cosmos External Tracking Faceplate on 5/14820 and have never been able to get it to work. This despite several chat sessions with HTC support that have now run many hours. Currently on the third VIVE Cosmos External Tracking Faceplate replacement, none of which have fixed the issue. The first two replacements were apparent new units, the third and last unit was in a plastic bag, Vive kept the Vive Cosmos External Tracking Faceplate box. Not sure that was a repair attempt on the second replacement. The problem is that every time the External Tracking Faceplate is installed, I get a headset not detected error message.. Once I remove the External Tracking Faceplate and reinstall the original Cosmos inside out faceplate the headset and everything else works fine. I have the original base stations and controllers from my original Vive headset. As a lot of Vive users have commented the tracking was better with the old base stations and controllers, so the External Tracking Faceplate looked like a good purchase. I had asked the following question of four HTC support staff and never got the same reply - with the Vive Cosmos External Tracking Faceplate installed. isn't this essentially the same as the Vive Cosmos Elite, except without the SteamVR Version 2 Base Stations. If that is the case, can you run the Vive Cosmos Elite product set up under Device Setup using two Version 1.0 Base Stations? The last HTC support rep agreed, and we used the Vive Cosmos Elite devise setup. Which still doesn't work with the External Tracking Faceplate. Interestingly, theVive Cosmos Elite setup is currently working fine with the original Cosmos faceplate. With HTC support and on my own, I have followed the same steps over and over with the same results (which I guess would be the definition of insanity)- -Removed the Vive Cosmos External Tracking Faceplate and reinstalled the original Cosmos faceplate. -Did a full reset of the headset, all packages were successfully loaded and installed. -Reinstalled the Vive Cosmos software in Device Setup and synced the two Cosmos controllers. -Performed a full room setup. -The result was that the Cosmos headset worked fine with the original Cosmos faceplate. -Then I removed the original Cosmos faceplate and re-installed the Vive Cosmos External Tracking Faceplate, all sides tight to the headset (I have had plenty of practice with installing faceplates). -With the Vive Cosmos External Tracking Faceplate installed, SteamVR was again unable to detect the headset. If anyone has any thoughts on this issue they would be most appreciated. My HTC support chat sessions are attached. ThanksHTC Support Chat.docx HTC Support Chat.docx HTC Support Chat.docx
