Ok just an update. I'm not sure if the headset learns the environment with time, but in the last month my tracking considerably improved. I can now play most games with no issues at all. Shooters like Contractors are playable but aiming with two handed weapons is still a bit patchy. Bow and arrow games are playable but also a bit glitchy. Other than that, I really enjoy the headset.
As a matter of fact, I am heavily invested in Oculus ecosystem and have Oculus Quest which I still use regularly for mobile gaming and also sometimes to play games on PC not compatible with Cosmos. However I tried Rift S two times, really attempting to like it and to stick with it due to my investment in oculus games etc. I ended up selling Rift S twice mainly for the one big reason: lack of IPD adjustment. I have IPD of 70 and playing Cosmos just feels natural and strainless. Rift S on the other hand always causing headaches and eye strain. I actually managed to replicate the same "feeling" on the Cosmos by setting IPD to 65 so im sure it is the IPD issue. Other reasons I kept the Cosmos:
1. Build quality - much better that Rift S. Feels solid, every part of the facial interface/foam is easily replacable and detachable. The facial foam on Rift S is really bad, itchy and soaking all sweat and eventually comes apart.
2. Comfort - I got much better fit by taking off the thick facial foam and repalcing it with home made fabric cutouts. Sweetspot is huge now and no blur anywhere at all.
3. Future faceplates, AR , etc.
4. Higher refresh rate and better colour saturation and resolution. Games look amazing but require a good PC.
Although I did like how on Rift S colours seemed to "pop" more and even flat pictures appeared more 3d somehow.
I am trying to disable the vignette though. Is it done by changing the setting file?
