  1. I can tell you that bow and arrow games do not work at all, boxing games do not work at all either. I'm not sure why there are such mixed results with the tracking, however maybe it's my exposure to base station VR tracking and expectations in what tracking should actually be. Having said this I notice a lot of lag in tracking with this HMD, and a lot of drift, so much so that the games become unplayable.
  2. It's not a good headset, it's a terrible headset. It fails to perform the primary function it was designed to do, it's not usable for anything. It will track you properly for 10 min then decide to have a seizure. Room is too bright: "Oooops sorry we can't track you." Room is too dark: "Oooops sorry we can't track you." Room is just right: "Ooops sorry we can't track you." Also there is so much lag compared to other headsets when it comes to tracking. Cosmos is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to VR HMDs, the Quest is better than this, because at least with the quest you can play games and it tracks you properly. I think HTC shot themselves in the foot when they put those sub par cameras in the device for tracking. This is why you see ebay full of these HMDs. Mine is collecting dust right now because it is utterly useless for VR game play. I can guarantee you that it will be in the trash come summer because there is nothing outside of using base station tracking that will fix the horrid design HTC decided upon when going with optical tracking. And if I'm going to use base station tracking, I will be buying an Index, waiting on that to come back into stock.
  3. Batteries are not low, I put in fresh batteries. I have to pair the controllers after the Headset goes blank for about 30 seconds. Nope, they are not working correctly at all.
  4. It has not been resolved, I'm not going back to the beta the tracking does not work in 1.0.10.4.
  5. I'm tired of being a beta tester for these multi million dollar corporations. When I buy something I expect it work out of the box, period. It's funny how today the kids are willing to pay for an unfinished product. What's with all this beta culture, beta males, and beta testers. Unfortunately I don't think HTC will be able to nail this down, due to the fundamental nature of the headset tracking, optical vs IR. If they wanted optical tracking they would have put in higher res and higher frame rate cameras. I would love for someone to do a tear down and prove me wrong, but I don't think these cameras get even close to 90hz+ which is what would be required to do proper optical tracking as you need to sample the image 90 times plus a second to get accurate tracking and reflect this inside the VR world. Actually you would need a camera that is capable of a higher refresh rate than 90hz to accommodate signal and processing time, and have this reflect properly in the VR world. I think this is why there is so much controller and headset drift when tracking.

  7. My headset stopped tracking my controllers in my room. Was working last night, now doesn't matter if I close the blinds, open them, lights on, light off, the software says ready, but nothing is happening, the controllers just won't come up in the VR space. The controller light just keep blinking rapidly. New batteries too.
  8. Nice mod man, looks clean. Are those fans pushing or pulling? Did you cut anything (holes) on the wireless case?
  9. Opted out of beta and reverted back to version 10.0.9.6 and tracking has improved dramatically. I noticed that when I turn the controller upside down in front of me, it starts the drift backwards towards me. @C.T.
  10. Reverted back to 10.0.9.6, tracking has improved greatly, still lacking but it's not game breaking.
  11. Holy shit, 22 C and overheating that's terrible. But don't hold your breath man the customer service with HTC is not there, my experience from buying the original Vive is try and fix it yourself, they don't really care they already sold you this product. Your best solution is to go on youtube and other social media and let other people make aware of what state everything is in, so that they don't but it. Because what needs to happen is lack of sales so they fix the issues.
  12. Went to beta release last night 1.0.10.4 to check and see if the tracking is improved, can confirm it is not! The headset will not track my hands when playing boxing games, the boxing gloves drift in front of my vision obscuring what I can see. The tracking is also way too slow, when the HMD looses tracking of the controller often times when it reorients the gloves it's too slow and I miss my target. There is also too much drift in this HMD device, this is especially noticeable when playing games and standing still. Both the controllers and the HMD drift when standing still. Coming from the original Vive I know what is possible, this is a terrible state to be in, hire somebody if you can't figure this out.
  13. I disagree having owned both the 1st get VIVE and the COSMOS the cosmos controllers are lacking, they feel like they are going to fall out of my hands, too short. Additionally the housing of the controller gets in the way of my finger when I try to press the shoulder button.
  14. Used to own the original HTC Vive, now I am contemplating buying the Vive Cosmos, but it is competing with the RIft S for me. I understand that there are resolution differences and IPD adjustments...etc. My concern is the inside out tracking on the Vive Cosmos, what state is it in, do you still need a brightly lit room? Comparisons between the two HMDs are welcome. Thanks
