  1. @ATAT @Lionel did you have had any luck in making Leap Motion working with the Cosmos? Interested into the same solution.
  2. Hi @zzy Cosmos Elite it's just the Cosmos (we already own) with the external tracking faceplate. I just didn't find the faceplate purchasable, or is it somewhere?
  3. Hi @zzy Didn't have a Pro. As another maybe more standard option, what about using the new Cosmos faceplate for external tracking and Vive knuckles with finger tracking? Not informed myself on the topic, is this working with the Cosmos?
  4. Hi @zzy Cosmos XR didn't have any availability date you can share I suppose, so not sure if can be applicable to our project. Nor there is any information on the pricing. Hard to say, but I'm starting considering switching to Vive Pro for this project, just for this reason. Or can I expect the hand tracking SDK working better on the Vive Pro?
  5. Hi @zzy thanks for your fast answer. Having it this year seems really too far for our project needs, this leave me no other options than third party solutions. From what you say - understandable for an optical tracking system - a hardware based solution will be probably better anyway for our target users, that I can't think educated enough to care about all these finesse. So I know Leap Motion was perfectly working with Vive Pro, but there are connectors on the Cosmos where we can attach it? Also what can be the best position so to don't occlude cameras?
  6. PS was wrong, Leap Motion it's available for purchase on third party distributors. So the question is if there is any way to make it work with Vive Cosmos.
  7. Hi @zzy This time with office lights on and sleeves rolled up. Seems a bit better especially the left hand, but as you see still shacky, and the grip it's also unreliable during rotation activities. Sure it's a beta so room for improvement, thinking about the project needs (reliable system for unexperienced and uneducated users) I can re-evaluate this solution - I will really prefer not needing other hardware - when we will need to start developing. Any idea about a v1 release date? Also what about expected licensing terms? Since I need anyway to push out a proposal based on hand tracking, as fail safe option there is any other commercial solution you can suggest is known working with Cosmos? As first idea I was thinking about Leap Motion but seems they are not selling it anymore.
  8. Testing hand tracking using the provided sample. Was not able to make it work on UE4. The result it's in this video https://youtu.be/5ARvNxZJvi0 Seems really unreliable so far. Setup using GTX 1070, latest 442.50 GPU driver, latest firmware provided by you (not sure if will have any role). Windows light hidden from roll-ups so no too high light message. In this status we can't consider using it in a project, there is anything wrong in my setup? Nothing I can do to improve the situation? I was really expecting to use hand tracking in upcoming project since using controllers will be a problem with untrained users, and need to decide what to do in a few days.
  9. There is any estimated time for a not beta v1.0 release.
  10. A possible new commercial project will involve non tech-savvy workers to use a VR application. To smooth as much as possible their experience I was thinking to switch from controllers to hand tracking, so to avoid needing to train and support them around the controllers eight interfaces usage scenarios. Will be anyway provided with an initial tutorial. They will be allowed to: - "touch" objects (i.e. door, safety equipment, just being nearby with the hand) - pick up / release / move / rotate them (grip+move / grip+rotate / release) - activate switches (grip movement) - rotate handles (grip+rotate) Based on your experience and current SDK features status wanted to ask if hand tracking can be really beneficial for people whose work does not involve the usage of digital tech, or in fact will be as complex as use the controllers, or even worse. Also being currently in beta status wanted to know if a commercial usage is allowed and will receive any support except the (really good) forum based one.
  11. Appreciate using forums to exchange ideas and experiences, a great tool for having informed decisions before investing time and money in a company, where - whoever the company is - are always a scarse resource. Without Vive forum I would not be able even to start using my Cosmos, so thanks HTC. Not entering into AMD vs Intel topic, just using a rational methodology for choice: up to the new Zen architecture there was really no need looking at AMD except having a really tight budget, with Zen 1 that switched into a cost/performance topic, with Zen 2 the situation switched on the opposite and even asking for proposal at professional 3d workstation builders they are using 90% AMD builds so far. This might change again with next Intel node. That's real competition, really appreciated and beneficial.
  12. That's interesting never read about this. Anyway for next customer build we are planning to use a Ryzen 3600X, whose single thread performance is supposed to be better than i9-9900k. Otherwise the 3800X it's even better and didn't cost so much more. But interested to know: more than one thread is used for encoding, or just one is loaded?
  13. Didn't own the wireless adapter, evaluating his usage for an upcoming projects. From all what I've read seems to have no graphics quality nor lag hits. The only problem reported from some users is heat after more than 1.5h usage.
  14. After many updates I feel we are approaching an optimal status for our needs. Since appear now is possible to have warranty and enterprise services for Cosmos, want to ask if will be possible to choose at a certain time to NOT have automated updates pushed in on the headset and handsets. This since if we will delivery the system to a customer want to be sure will continue to work in the configuration we have tested and approved. @stvnxu
  15. @VibrantNebula needing to specify: useful for our needs. We are not creating games but simulations for the industry and also not for military usage. So far I didn't encounter so many performance troubles nor the appearance it's the major selling point (even if need to be at a certain level to please the customer) thus not needing high SS, but this will probably change in the future, in the meantime I hope the engine will incorporate all what is needed to solve them so to avoid customization we will need to maintain from project to project and engine release. The cloud VR topic it's completely different and this will need all the possible optimizations, but after discussing with research institutions in three countries, HPC vendors providing top500 solutions, two 5G network providers on both the side of Atlantic, both GPU vendors, software and hardware ultra low latency encoding experts, searching for any possible expert on edge computing topic I think this activity will shift in exploration and learning mode, since in my personal idea there is a push from the big names behind the scenes on the topic and little interest into helping third parties efforts.
  16. @VibrantNebulaI know the technologies and have researched extensively on the topic for the cloud VR. Anyway I'm not keen in investing into project specific solutions, that also will probably bring less benefits than the effort needed to integrate them into the engine we use, at least so far. The GPU vendor market share it's an easy information to catch, my interest was more into details regarding generation trends. But I think there isn't so much more to say on the topic.
  17. Just checked my PC interiors The available space for the PCIex1 slots highlighted in red it's really tight, maybe I can try first inserting a card in the upper slot to check if will be possible to use this.
  18. I've learned something. I like planning using data, but of course that's my way of doing things. Also my perspective it's a bit changed since here in EU it's now possible to actually rent GPU for usage in our on premise systems, so will be possible for developers and customers to update more frequently and easily.
  19. Appreciate as general settings, but hard to find a way my or anyone privacy will be harmed from statistical or anonymized data. As Vive own private data I think you are a bit shooting in your own foot... My I suggest asking the marketing team in addition to the BI one. But I will stop here since this is really up to HTC.
  20. Will be available under an enterprise agreement? Not general usage data of course, only about the used hardware statistics. Any company has the right to use his data, but they might have also a value for his customers.
  21. Since there is for Oculus https://developer.oculus.com/hardware-report/pc/ Wondering if somewhere there is something similar for Vive due the Vive Console being able to read such data.
  22. Currently using a GTX 1070 for dev, testing and demo, with a first commercial project in sight I was planning to upgrade so also to align with perspective customer. I can do myself the choice of the best GPU for the needs and 3d engine used, but looking at what the market is using I didn't find any statistics available about what the others VR customers are using. Steam didn't break down the GPU stat for VR, anything on the Vive side?
  23. Using some passive markers to be placed around the room floor and walls might improve the situation?
  24. Was reading the wireless range it's 6x6mt (20x20ft). With a prospect to suggest it also for a customer usage in industrial settings, that might have available rooms much bigger than our office or homes, wondering if the inside out headset tracking will have problems with rooms bigger than 6x6. Since the tracking is looking at reference points I suppose a too big room will make them too far away to be visible, so the limitation will become the headset and not the wireless adapter. Anyone ever tested the tracking max compatible room size?
  25. The PCIe slot topic concern me a bit, this is interior status just after being built (in the meantime added another front fan and some other disks) need to check if a PCIex1 slot it's reachable. The CPU it's a Ryzen 5 2600X, considering also your answer to mine previous question I suppose might work, even if maybe not so well. That's a bit my concern with too many uncertain, to have a beautiful solution that in fact will not provide a true comfort enhancement due to hw limitations, or not work at all.
