  1. You say that, But people don't realize the cost involved. The mod, $200ish, 2x 2.0 Base stations, 2x VivePro controllers (Or I assume other compatible) It'll cost more than the Cosmos did just to get external tracking. Cheers
  2. The only thing you can try to do is make sure there is enough lighting, Apart from that. You cross your fingers and hope it's still something that can be done via a software update and not a hardware limitation. Cheers
  3. That battery is only 18w on QC 3.0 USB-A, but It is 45w on USB-C. You need a battery that is QC 3.0 USB-A, Like an Anker Powercore Speed 10000mah (A1266) or 20000mah (A1278) they are 24w (12v/2A) QC 3.0. Cheers
  4. Basically it's a deal with it kind of scenario right now. They do as much as they can software wise due to their tracking method decision, they then push their tracking mod in 2months that will require the MOD, 2 Controllers, 2 Basestations. Don't get me wrong, Their software improvements lately have been amazing. But also questionable, Only so much can be done with a hardware limitation. Best you can do is make sure your lighting is up to scratch & minimal room reflections to give the cameras a fighting chance. Cheers
  5. From what I've seen the Rings were flipped from underneath to on top for the Rift S & Quest controllers because they still use IR LED in the ring of the controller (According to their press info) but without the base stations so I assume the cameras don't have IR filters in them so that's how they work a lot better for occluded controllers Vs. the Cosmos which just looks for the rings from what I gather I haven't tried to purposely cover the cosmos ring to see if it still tracks at all. Cheers Also, I wouldn't stress too much. Very much so enjoying the Cosmos here. The last couple of updates helped the tracking a LOT.
  6. I have black couches, Which surround my play area. I just have another light on and it fixes the issue. Cheers
  7. Please adjust your TDR (Timeout Detection & Recovery) delay, from 2seconds to 8seconds. Google how to do it for your operating system, It's in your registry. That error is your display driver crashing because it's not communicating with your GPU during the allocated time, normal for a lot of systems to increase the TDR Delay even for regular games. Cheers
  8. Okay so, The Vive cosmos works a lot on light & it's cameras. In regards to the controllers, It can see the light loops on the controls. It knows which control is left & which is right and does what is needed with the loops for hand tracking via it's cameras and other sensors. In regards to the room & lighting your environment it relies on the cameras (6 of them) to track your room. The way the room is mapped via gradient map (Lots of little photos it takes and turns into data) it creates a depth table for tracking. If you have black furniture, mirrors, dark windows etc. it will also affect your tracking. Basically anything light absorbing or lacking. You can re-map your room in the evening to help as well or get some lamps, If you have other room doorways you can see that are dark try turning those room lights on as well. Another way is double click the (Vive) button on the right controller when it's dark to enable camera view. And look around, Look what is obnoxiously dark and try to fix that. Cheers
  9. Hi there, Interesting question. A lot of stores near me are selling both the "99HARL005-00" and the "99HARL021-00" model numbers of the HTC Vive Cosmos and also at a price difference. Was wondering if somebody (hopefully official) could shed some light on the difference between these units? Cheers @stvnxu
