    Hello,

I purchased Vive Cosmos about a week ago. All of my previous HMDs were Oculus, so I had some initial minor setbacks with steam vr, attempitng to use revive, etc. My main issue with the headset now though is the tracking. I get regular warnings, "Your environment is dark" and "learn how to improve your tracking" etc, and my main issues with the tracking are:

    1. My hands seem to jigger, shake and change position constantly. Especially visible in Blade and Sorcery, I put the controller at arms length in front of me, and the hands and arms change position slightly every second or so. In some games its almost unplayable due to that jitter, for example Star Shelter on Viveport

    2. In Blade and Sorcery, if i just stand straight with my arms relaxed next to my hips, in the mirror my charachter's arms tremble and shake and also sometimes become really long almost touching the floor.

    3. Very difficult to pick up objects from the floor, tracking just goes haywire, evident in the game like Abode 2.

I spoke to the support, and overall they were quite good and helpful, however none of their solution worked to improve the tracking. I also tried beta versions of vive software and steam vr. In my room I have four warm white LED celing lights, I tried adjusting the brightness but whatever I do, I still get the "dark environment" warning and tracking issues.

Normally, I would probably just send the HMD back for a refund or try to sell it on eBay, however I really like the Cosmos otherwise - the visuals, the comfort and the expandable aspect of the HMD.. So Im really willing to try to improve the tracking..

Also have you removed anything that is reflected on the wall?

Here's a bunch of gameplay from Boneworks on 1.0.10.7

I agree still some issues with the rifle action. It is difficult to aim.
Otherwise everything else is great. Played two hours and almost got dizzy jumping and running around.

I love how Boneworks uses capacitive touch on some of the buttons.

From Video that shows your avatar wearing a Cosmos Play . So are you testing this beta by using Cosmos Play?

Currently there is in my opinion a bad mix, with the Pro proposed as enterprise but in fact not more evolved with all the effort for new tech pushed into the Cosmos line, with the notable exception of the Eye tracking, not available in the Cosmos line. The OLED by himself didint justify the "Pro" tag, being mostly a specialized tech benefiting some use cases and being outscored from LCD full RGB in some others.

Don’t forget Pro also support lips tracking.

Also, in one of the tread, mention Cosmos support eyes tracking.

est ce que quelque  un  a une  idée pour la date de sortie de la plaque de suivi pour le cosmos?

HTC n'a pas encore publié, sachez seulement que c'est le deuxième trimestre de 2020. Le prix est de 220 USD.

As i know focus Plus no need tethered PC.

why I need a PC to power the experience ?

Each contend is different, some can be process by Focus it’s own chips(only as powerful as a Android phone) some contend need to be process by powerful Vr PC. Vive Focus plus is equivalent to Oculus quest, so you can see why Facebook will launch a cable link for Quest to access rich PCVR content.

I think people are upset because they spent finished product retail price for a product which under performs and under delivers.

The dev's have not said that they can fix hardware related issues with firmware.

The cosmos is limited due to the way that the tracking was implemented which is whey they are in such a hurry to deploy the tracking face plate.

Of course people who already own the Cosmos are going to feel ripped off and lied to when they will need to spend more that the original price to buy the components to upgrade and fix it. face plate, new controllers and new sensors.

Your assumption has been misleading I believe.

    1) When the time Cosmos launched in October last year, they havd already mention it’s a modualr type of HMD that hardware can be update. The lighhouse faceplate is mainly targeting those OG Vive or Vive pro owner imhp.

    2) The inside out tracking or All in one VR device is the fututure of VR. Mobility is king and , just like mobile phone, it’s a trend that cannot be ignored. One of the reason of Oculus Quest booming is coz it’s easy to set up without setting up lighhouse tracking.  Any company is not aware of that might not be competitive in the game.

Conclusion: I don’t think HTC is evilly try to lie  and ripped off people and force them to buy the faceplate. Instead they’ve just lack of people and resources, lack of VR pattern and heavily  rely on their supply chain to offer tech of VR. They will fix Cosmos tracking instability, they have to, for the sake of company future strategy.

May not be quite as bad for HTC Vive since they are located and manufacture in Taiwan, not mainland China.  Still could be a factor if they get any components from mainland China though.

I am just thinking as HTC is about to attending WMC2020 in Spain which start at 24th Feb. As they passed CES US in Jan.They must have some importance news  or products are about to talk about. e.g maybe the faceplate of Cosmos launching date. In addition it will also be a great time great to release a far  greater improved beta version at same time.As we all know there are rising anger about it especially in here.

I sent a support ticket last night, got a reply now.

"Thank you for contacting Vive Support.
Regarding your request, kindly note that the:
-Contollers V1 and V2 cannot be paired together on the same system.
-Controllers V1 with base stations V1 van work on HMD V1 or HMD V2.
-Any V2 components (base and controllers) will not work on HMD V1"

So yes, apparently V2 Controller will not work together with my V1 controller, nor will it connect to my V1 HMD.

How do you got one Ver2 controller in the first place. Just curious.

Hello. I recently bought a used HTC vive from a local store, I set it up just fine for VR, but was immediately quite frustrated when I realized I was unable to pair up one of my controllers (2.0). Googled alot and found nothing that worked so far. My Vive controller just has a constant fast blue blinking light when I am trying to pair it up. Fyi, I updated both controllers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated..I'm very stuck atm.

@buzzbone Do you mean ,you want to pair Ver.1.0 Lighthouse with Ver.2.0 controllers?

Lol all of this talk about helpful posts, and I have one...

Return this device while you still can... and maybe re-buy when (or at this point 'if') they keep their promise on the external tracking mod and buy it only as a combo.

I have a feeling that the optical tracking [hardware] issue mentioned earlier is no joke. I think the cameras inside the headset were poorly chosen, and the choice of controller shape and not using IR is a huge mistake. These issues seem like hardware problems.

The there is a post had mention the reason not using IR tracking is because Oculus own the IR tracking pattern. In order to go around it and for the sake of MR, (integrated AR  & AV functions).

Btw, I wander why VIVE FOCUS PLUS ‘s tracking tech could not apply to Cosmos.
