  1. @stvnxu ok let me put it this way, can we actually have basic tracking when the controller is right next to the headset so In Death or Pavlov etc is at least playable.. This isn’t an improvement, it’s first base. I can’t believe this is so difficult to be implemented unless there is a fundamental issue with tracking as suggested above. To be honest, I don’t want to hear about gradual improvements until you can sort the basic issues that should have been sorted by the release date of this headset. Sorry to be so blunt, but do you really see the damage that this release has done to HTC Vive? Plus your buyers are feeling totally conned at the moment. Well at the very least I am.
  2. The problem there is that you charge a hell of a lot for delivery. Plus I really don’t fancy returning it to Romania if there is a problem.
  3. Hi, We seem to have a certain item being sold in the UK which involves the kit needed to attach the Cosmos to the Wireless adapter but apparently without the actual battery needed to power it. Can I ask if this is actually an official item sold by HTC and (if so), what is the point of it without the battery (as at the moment you can't buy a similar battery from anywhere else with the correct power output needed)? The one I am looking at is https://www.scan.co.uk/products/htc-wireless-adapter-clip-for-htc-vive-cosmos-vr-headset-this-clip-is-required-to-enable-compatibili Thanks
  4. Why would you want to stay on Win 8.1 though? You can buy WIn 10 key pretty cheaply and should be able to do an in place upgrade. I'm pretty sure you will have to upgrade Windows, because even if the Cosmos apps do work on Win 8.1, HTC won't support it if you log any calls with them. So if you have a seemingly hardware issue, they will still make you upgrade first in the troubleshooting process.
  5. @stvnxuwhat is your technical team’s comment on this please? Are we being strung along with no satisfactory tracking solution possible? I would rather just know now if that is the case.
  6. I have the Index plus controllers, it works out of the box with my OG Vive base stations and it's an amazing headset. When you experience the quality of the Index, it makes me more angry that the Cosmos is in the mess that it is. The only negative with the Index is the absence of a wireless solution. Hope you like your Pro when it arrives 🙂
  7. Yeah but 2 months for the Rift S wasn't it? Just around the corner for the Cosmos and not yet near an acceptable state imo. I agree with you with the improvements and it's a valid point, but that should come after getting the headset doing the basic functions upon which it was sold. They need to get the basics right, then the rest can come.
  8. @stvnxuI just feel we are going around in circles lately, We are now approaching the 2 month anniversary since launch, and it;'s still not in a condition that I would say 'marketable'. You are still having issues with near field tracking, along with some other elements of tracking. Bow and arrow games along with gun games like Pavlov etc still aren't playable and you should be getting this kind of thing sorted before any of the 'window dressing'' updates as of late. I just want to know that I haven't wasted £700. If I was head of HTC Vive, I would be going mental at the people who developed this headset and launched it in such a condition. So please, just give me a date when this thing will be properly usable and make sure this happens. At that point, I will switch off my OG Vive and consign it to the archive.
  9. Nope, still visible when turned all the way down for me.
  10. Ok, fair enough with a small company, but we're talking about HTC here. Surely they have test labs that can mimic most typical end user environments. If they're bringing out VR headsets to the public, it would have a to be a pre-req that they have such environments to test them in the first place. Having end users being your main source of testing is strange to say the least. Yes I will say we should be providing 'niggles' for them to sort, but not anything as basic as getting the tracking to work properly.
  11. Just to elaborate on my sub comment, I would really like HTC to say some comment like 'We are bringing out some kick ass tracking update that will most probably solve all your tracking issues' on so and so date. At the moment, we get updates which explain what they think they are fixing, and then seem to rely on us to give the ok on them. I know and appreciate that they are trying to fix this, but can you please give us a timeline on the major issue, which is overall tracking. At the moment we seem to be getting 'mickey mouse' updates to tide us by.
  12. I tried this update briefly at lunchtime but had to return to work. Now this is different testing for me because most of my testing takes place under bulb light in the evenings. My orientation had me facing a window with sunlight but not shining directly at the headset.. However I found the tracking worse than the night before (playing Beat Saber). Should this be the case? The controllers suddenly decided to stay in one place occasionally only turning when I turned the controller. Surely I don;t need to re calibrate every time under different light conditions? So unfortunately, overall, giving the ok to tracking is still way off for me 😞 As a sub comment, you seem to be relying heavily on us to do all the testing for these updates. Isn't HTC a big enough company to do this testing 95% themselves? And if so, why are we still having issues? This is the biggest thing that worries me.
  13. Just posted exact same thing in the beta channel for this update. Sorry, didn't see this. I second it though!
  14. Another thing that is bugging me. I set up the chaperone borders and that's fine and works when using non-static games. However when I then want to do a static game whilst sitting at my PC which is by the border, I get the boundary permanently. Even when turning the transparency all the way down, I can still see it. Can you provide a way to turn this completely off when not needed? And then back on when it is needed?
  15. @stvnxuLogs submitted. Can only test it on the room where my PC is so that is my only experience based on location. Hoping that the next update is definitive on improving tracking as we can't continually go on hoping that the next update will sort out the tracking.
  16. No difference in tracking as far as I can see from 1.0.7.1. Two sessions on both firmwares in Box VR yielded the same results so will leave f/w at 1.0.8.1. Mostly ok in tracking but every now and then, boxing gloves go everywhere and through the spheres. BUT, still lots to do. Near field tracking non existent. Plus the tracking hasn't a clue with a plain carpet on the floor (at least using bulb light, will try in natural light at the weekend). Any games using height tracking suffer greatly because of this.
  17. After an extended leave of absence (after returning my Cosmos which was refused by HTC on a technicality, your customer support still stinks on returns and repairs HTC), I have tried the latest update whilst I speak to my credit card company. I have to say this f/w is a big step in the right direction. Remaining immediate basic problems are:- Tracking whilst controllers are close to the headset still sucks. This is a basic requirement and needs confirmation if this is actually possible by HTC as it is now 1.5 months since release. If not, then the product is not fit for purpose. Bow and arrow plus gun games aren't able to be played. Light conditions still aren't perfect. Putting controllers on the floor in a normally bulb lit room results in them following you back up and then snapping back to the floor. However performance in this lighting condition has improved. Button to re-centre display still not present, again a basic function. Still waiting on that olive branch for your alpha/beta testers (oops I meant pre-orders). If you could get this stuff right, I would even consider keeping my Cosmos. But saying your 'improving' it from month to month isn't enough, I want to hear that you will do these things (and more importantly) that you are able to do these things.
  18. Omg, I haven't redeemed mine yet as I wanted all the issues to clear first. HTC, what are you going to do about this? You should be thanking people who preorder rather than shooting them in the foot with this stuff. I assume then I currently will only get 6 months? And when will that expire to even less? Really poor. What if someone ordered this as a Xmas present?
  19. I tried this game before I eventually returned the Cosmos, couldn't see a way to move and it was pretty much insta-death. You will probably need to try Steam VR bindings as mentioned in other posts. But let's face it, so many games have Cosmos control issues and you shouldn't have to be doing this on the whole. And even then, bindings may not work either.
  20. On the contrary, posting more rants might even get this thing fixed if it sends the right signals to HTC. I've also just sent mine back after the apparent lack of progress with the 1.07 firmware. It made me wonder whether the tracking can't be easily fixed and can it be ever totally fixed (I see there is a minor firmware release on top of this now). I commend you for sticking with it, I do hope they iron out the issues. But the fact they released this as a total mess, plus my return window was about to expire, I had no choice. Like most, I really had high hopes for this headset and would have defended it as far as possible if it was a few quirks, but the fact is that it's been widely panned across the internet and it shouldn't have been released in this state.
  21. I think it has now come to the stage when pre-order guys have to make a choice whether to keep this 'not fit for purpose as sold' headset. For those that do, I would expect some sort of olive branch made by HTC for their faith. Whether that is a discount on the base station tracking module or something else, some gesture needs to be made. Beyond all the crap, this product is a huge rip off as is. Even if HTC fix the tracking issues, how are you going to placate the people who pre-ordered this expecting so much more, even just something that worked out of the box?
  22. Still no improvement as far as I can see in bow and arrow games (i.e. when controllers are right next to the headset, they still lose tracking).
  23. 15 minute test which I will comment further on when I have had more time with this update. Tracking is still not good. If I put the controllers on the floor, and then bend back upwards, the controllers follow me for a second and then switch back to the floor (the fact that they do switch back to the floor is an improvement). Tracking also still heavily reliant on features on walls and floors, if you have a bare room, you have no chance. Again, this was never advertised as a requirement on launch of this product so needs sorting. This testing was is in a night time room with medium light from a bulb. Don't like the way it automatically goes to Origin, this should be an option as it quickly becomes tiresome. Where is the re-centre button? This was widely advertised as needed but seems to have been ignored.
  24. That's all well and good, but for those who have pre-ordered, the end of the month will be too late to return the headset as it takes 4 days minimum to return the headset to Romania (at least from anywhere in the EU, and that includes support saying we have 30 days instead of 14 days to return it). So you are asking us to sacrifice our RMA period in the hope your new update MAY sort everything out. I really wish you had tested this thing before you released it. How much damage has this headset done to your reputation?
