  1. I've had a Vive Wireless adapter for over a year. With my Vive Pro and current high-end PC (i9 9900k, rtx3090, 32Gb 3000 ram) it is still too much of a cpu-hog for any of my flight sims,. So for now, like my OG Cosmos, it's back in its box and I sooo wish I never bought these. I'd give them away for free but I cannot think of anyone I dislike enough to pass them onto, lol! I actually get better results with my Oculus Quest wireless w/Virtual Desktop. Funny/sad because I paid ~ the same (actually maybe a little less) for my Quest that I did for the vive wireless adapter, lol!
  2. The best thing I ever did after the very poor tracking experience of my pre-ordered OG Cosmos was to buy a Vive Pro Full Kit w/2.0 base stations/controllers. Later, I bought the Etsy Gear VR lens mod and Index controllers. Forgetting about the what this cost me, I now have what I consider to be the very best PCVR headset currently available. I guess I could now just buy the Cosmos Elite faceplate but given the much better build quality of the Vive Pro and its OLED screens, I just don't see the point in doing this. So now my OG Cosmos is back in its box. Maybe its inside out tracking will improve enough to bring it out for a play, maybe with my Vive Wireless Adapter (which is also back in its box, lol!). Does not look too promising though right now.
  3. No, of course these will not work because they use different tracking methods. Please do a little google research before posting. Thanks.
  4. Have you contacted Vive Support for help? Could be a problem with your headset, who knows?
  5. I'm pretty sure it's a power limiting thing but why does the latest Vive Support pages say that the headset usb-c is disabled using wireless? Maybe this link needs to be revised? https://www.vive.com/au/support/wireless-adapter-cosmos/category_howto/cant-detect-usb-device-on-vive-cosmos-.html
  6. Yes, the usb-c headset port is disabled when using the wireless adapter. I believe this is the same with Cosmos and VivePro. https://www.vive.com/au/support/wireless-adapter-cosmos/category_howto/cant-detect-usb-device-on-vive-cosmos-.html
  7. I have a vive pro but I'm not currently using it's wireless adapter (too much of a cpu hog with my flight sims). However, I do recall having had a similar problem in the past when I was using the wireless adapter. The first thing to do is to check your SteamVR menu panel, setting/audio and select manual and the correct audio devices you want to use. I actually find that I often need to do this with my wired vive pro after some win10 and SteamVR updates. In one case I found it best to uninstall my nvidia drivers (using DDU) and reinstall them again (including the HD audio drivers). After restarting everything and making sure that the SteamVR audio settings were sending audio to the right devices it all worked fine again. Good luck sorting this out mate.
  8. I think you are actually referring to SteamVR 'motion smoothing' and yes that is available with my Vive Pro (and has been for quite a while) in the same settings/video panel. It apparently has been improved. Personally I don't use it for 2x reasons. It causes too many artifacts (but it is a little better now) and for the most part I do not need to use it for most apps since I have a fairly powerful gaming pc (i9 9900k/rtx3090/32Gb ram). For my flight sims like X Plane 11 (where 90fps is not possible) I find that using framerate throttling, generally at 45fps, gives me a very good result. Maybe try framerate throttling and see what you think.
  9. The Cosmos (Elite and OG) are SteamVR headsets so I'm sure those new SteamVR features will be available. They certainly are with my Vive Pro. Easy way to check is whether or not options like framerate throttling are available within your SteamVR settings/video.
  10. I ended up buying a Vive Pro full kit with 2.0 base stations/controllers (now with Etsy Gear VR lens mod and Index controllers) and I'm very happy with this. My OG Cosmos has been back in its box and I doubt that it will ever get used again, even if Vive sent me a free Cosmos Elite faceplate. I wonder how many of these are actually sold? Esp. at aud$399, lol! https://www.vive.com/au/accessory/cosmos-external-tracking-faceplate/
  11. The only pictures I've seen inside the Pro Eye (see YT vid below) looks like the outer lens rings have the eye tracking cameras on them so I kinda doubt that the lens themselves are as easy to replace as the standard Vive Pro. I have the Etsy Gear VR lens mod on my Pro and I really like it. You are probably best to ask Vive Support about this imho.
  12. Maybe try some double-sided sticky tape. For example; https://www.amazon.com/Amazonbasics-Double-Sided-Tape-Dispenser/dp/B07VYK11V1/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=Two+Sided+Tape&qid=1613903812&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExQzhLQTVLMkpRMTgyJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNzA3ODI1MUZPSzlZUzcxQzlGSCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMDk1Njg3V0lXMjVQQVQxV1JBJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
  13. Ya, my Vive Pro w/Etsy Gear VR lens mod and Index controllers is still my favourite PCVR headset for all my flight/racing sims (and most other PCVR apps as well). Unfortunately My Vive wireless adapter is still too much of a CPU resource hog for these, even with a i9 9900k and rtx3090, lol! I still prefer my good old Rift cv1 for most of my Oculus store apps and thanks to the Vive Pro link box on/off button and Oculus OTT it's very easy to switch headsets. I enjoy my Quest 1 for mobile VR, media viewing, and for a bit of PCVR wireless fun w/Virtual Desktop.
  14. I would avoid using any software hacks. Just try adjusting your IPD and play with your faceplate placement a bit. I found I needed to take IPD inwards ~ 1.5-2mm and this helped a lot. I've been using the Gear VR lens mod (bought it from Etsy) without any problems.
  15. Pretty easy, (a) go with the full kit w.2.0 base stations and controllers. (b) do not expect the best VR with any so-called VR ready gaming laptop.
  16. Ya, I agree that this is what's happening. Also, of course the higher res Pro panels also adds to this. Wireless seems to eat my i9 9900k for lunch with my flight and racing sims. To compensate for the 15-25% lower performance due to wireless with these demanding (and often single threaded) apps, I need to drop % pixel density by up to 50%. Honestly, my Oculus Quest 1 wireless with Virtual Desktop seems to manage these sims a bit better. Kinda ridiculous since my Vive wireless adapter kit cost about the same as my Quest 1 headset w/Virtual Desktop, lol! Just my opinion but I think that the Vive wireless adapter only works well with silly, simple PCVR games, not more demanding games/sims. Hopefully there will be better PCVR wireless solutions developed in the future for high res VR headsets.
  17. Honestly, between my pre-ordered OG Cosmos and Vive wireless kit, this has been the biggest waste of aud$2.000 ever, imho. At least my Vive Pro full kit, wired, with Etsy Gear VR lens mod continues to work very well. Only another aud$2,000 spend for that, lol!
  18. While my Vive wireless adapter works pretty well with most games/sims, I still notice a lot more screen door effect (SDE) with my Vive Pro compared to wired. Not sure why?
  19. So you need to login with your Vive account, with your current browser, then start the Vive installer. Why would you do otherwise? Sorry, but maybe I'm missing something?
  20. Normally it has dlc options, same as Steam, although sometimes they take a kittle longer to appear. Like Steam, you will usually need to pay extra for these.
  21. In general, laptops do not always play well with VR. Your specs look ok but not really high end. Still, you should get a decent result even if you need to use lower graphics settings (try reducing your SteamVR % pixel density for starters). The main issue I've had with gaming laptops is heat related. Even if you use a cooling pad laptops do not shed heat very well, esp. when you are pushing them hard with VR. This can cause thermal overloads which will automatically reduce your performance. Often in VR you will end up with a stuttering mess. Last year I moved to a desktop gaming PC from an Alienware 17r4 gaming laptop that I was using with an Alienware Graphics Amplifier (AGA) with a gtx1080ti installed in it. While I got pretty good VR performance it was not spectacular and my Laptop ran pretty warm most of the time. I moved my gtx1080ti into a desktop gaming pc w/i9 9900k water cooled, and this doubled my VR performance. I just wish I had done this to begin with.
  22. So, did lowering the %pixel density for Beatsaber help or not? Otherwise, I'm not sure why you're losing performance, esp. if it was working ok before. I would not think that Beatsaber would be that hard on your system. Maybe try uninstalling Beatsaber and reinstall it again, or if it's in your Steam library you can run the verify files option. If you are using a SteamVR beta maybe try opting out of it. Also it may be worth right clicking on steamVR in your library/properties/files and run the verify files to see if you may have a corrupt SteamVR file. Of course you can always contact Vive Support and ask them for help. They are usually very helpful. They will probably ask you to send them some log files and will explain how to do this. Pretty easy , and they may be able to more quickly identify your problem imho. If you think it's a SteamVR issue you can also contact Steam Support and ask them for help. Sorry but I don't know how to best 'test' your 1080ti gpu (I also use this gpu btw). In any case if it were a gpu hardware problem it probably would not even work at all. One thing I have found in the past is that Vive VR does not work well if you are using any gpu overclocking software like msi afterburner. I was using this with a bit of overclock and I was getting all sorts of instability with VR. I used the program to go back to stock settings, then uninstalled the OC software. All's been good since. The first things I'd do regarding your nvidia setup is to go into your nvidia control panel 3D settings and restore everything to Default (just in case you accidently changed something not good for VR). Only settings you need to adjust are top line = prefer high powered nvidia gpu (usually only needed if your pc also has an integrated intel gpu, like most laptops), Power = prefer max performance, and v-sync = off. If that does not help you may want to try a different nvidia driver. I'm currently using 442.59 because I think it gives me the best overall VR performance. I use the free program DDU in Safe mode to delete current drivers (lots of info on how to use this, just google). Also, when I install nvidia drivers I do a custom install and only install driver, hd audio, and physx. All I can think of mate and I don't think I can be of any further assistance. Good luck and cheers.
  23. Pretty basic SteamVR stuff mate. Right click on your SteamVR icon ( like you did to get your performance graph. Select settings then video. You will see the % pixel density (sometimes referred to as super sampling) slider (global). With a 1080ti I would slide this to 100% since SteamVR often seems to want it at 130% for some reason. Anyway try this for starters. Any time you change this you need to restart your game for it to take effect. You can also select this by game as well but I’ll leave that for you to figure out yourself. Good luck mate.
  24. OK, thanks for clarifying that mate. A few months ago I asked about using my Cosmos wireless with the Elite faceplate and a mod (Vibra?) with my Vive PRo base stations/controllers and I thought he mentioned for me yo keep my Pro LinkBox connected for BT to control my base station power options. Maybe I misunderstood. Thanks.
  25. If you already have an OG Vive w/basestations/controllers you should be able to slap the new Elite faceplate onto your OG Cosmos and be good to go with your OG Vive base stations/controllers. Well, at least after you redo your SteamVR room setup. I think the new Elite faceplate still comes with a free copy of Half Life Alyx and probably 2-3 months VivePort Infinity sub (which you can add onto your current sub if you have one). No other cables are included, you can just use your OG Cosmos cables/linkbox. However, if you want to be able to turn your base stations off from SteamVR with BlueTooth then you may need to purchase a Vive Pro Linkbox because I don't think that the OG Cosmos Linbox (or even the convertor that comes with the Elite bundle) includes BT. Hope this helps.
