  1. Here's my low-budget racing setup. It's a Logitech G25 with a GT Omega Steering Wheel Stand on its low setting. The fan is the black tower on the far side of the picture. It blows diagonally directly at my face. The temperature in this room is air-conditioned to about 23C. The lighthouses are mounted about 7' high in opposite corners of the 12'x12' room (to the left on the wall in the picture and behind to the right).
  2. Did you try cooling the front of the headset (by fan or ice pack) as many of us in this thread have suggested? Since I put a fan in front of my racing rig, I have played dozens of hours (2 hours at a time) of Project Cars with not a single problem. Without the fan, the grey screens started after 20-40 minutes. You could also try covering a sensor on the front as many have suggested. However, this may only buy you a little longer time until you have to cover another (overheating?) sensor.
  3. After a month of testing Project Cars about 2 hours every day, I've finally determined that my problem, and likely most of yours, is an overheating headset. I tried nearly every troubleshooting suggestion on this forum and r/Vive at reddit. For the past few days, I've been playing until the flashes were very frequent. Then, I tried to make them stop flashing. The one thing that worked 100% of the time was to point a fan at the front of the headset. Immediately, the flashing stopped. When I pointed the fan away (still running and plugged into the same outlet), the flashing screens came back within a few minutes. Tonight, I raced for about 3 hours (two 1.5 hour sessions about an hour apart) with the fan. Not a single grey flash! I know most of us have suspected an overheating problem from the beginning. Some have confirmed this by applying ice packs or putting it in front of an air conditioner. I feel like I've wasted a lot of time testing things other than the most likely cause. I also feel we were misled by HTC staff on this forum saying they didn't think it was a thermal issue. So, I'm done being suspicious of RF interferrence, or USB 3 vs USB 2, or faulty lighthouses, or reflections, or bad video/USB drivers. For those of you, like me, that have flawless tracking for 20+ minutes, followed by grey flashes that get progressively more frequent, try cooling the front of the headset.
  4. Same problem that most are having. I can play room-scale games for hours with no tracking loss. Every time I play Project Cars, I start to lose tracking after 30-40 minutes. HMD Serial and date of purchase: FA6BGJ001817 11/2016 Grey Screen: flickers after 30-40 minutes, eventually staying solid grey When problem began (more or less): When I started playing Project Cars about a month ago. Project Cars is the only seated game I play. I can play for hours at a time with room-scale games like The Golf Club VR and Serious Sam: The Second Encounter with no tracking loss. Keyboard and monitor face the play area. When playing Project Cars, a GT Omega Wheel Stand with a Logitech G27 and a chair is placed in front of the PC. Tracking is flawless with this setup for 30-40 minutes.
