  1. Hi !

    Echeva has written:

"After one month without getting the time to do any test, I have found 50 minutes free time and played with the vibe. This time I used air conditioner, my room was at 25C. I measured temp on the front exterior side of the headset with a laser termometer. The hotest areas were surrounding the camera. The closest ir sensors were the ones some people said that were the first to fail. Almost inmediately they reached 35.8C, but kept constant temperatureduring gameplay. I had no greys during those 50 minutes.

I went out steamVR and left the headset connected to the computer, but stand-by. I increased room temp to 28C and went out my home. Three hours later I returned. The headset was still at 35.8C. So, it was stand by, room temp was 3 degrees more, but headset temperature was almost constant."

Could you make simmilar test with HMD withou grey screen?

  2. , thanks for report of test.

But, i think 50 minutes is not enought.

It would be interesting to know, if get temperature when appeare grey screen.

Equivalent temperature of HMD when you playing and when steamVR is off - like my HMD.

HTC staff, please, could you answer: What is reason of heating of HMD when it isn't working?

  3. I think, grey screen appear when temperature of hmd reach to certain level and sensors recieve reflected ir rays. First time it is in little area and With time when temperature reach higher level, area of grey screen to grow. But it my assumption, unconfirmed.

Vive staff, i can show you my testing by skype (you could ask to me to make different action for the test).

  4. Hi ! This is a good test, what we need!
    Dear HTC ,

it is very interesting, working properly Vives (without gray flashing) do they reach the same temperatures? Please check it with properly Vaives (without gray flashing).

  5. ,

    Thanks for your answer.

I think that Dave0590 tests Indicates the cause of the hardware of HMD.

And i has concluded that my HMD is defective:smileysad:

, what then offers me the HTC? Can you (HTC) replacement my HMD?

  6. Synthesis, why are you (HTC staff) ignoring my quation "HTC, what news? Something have you done for solved or searching it?"?
Besides, I'm not the only one asking this question.
I guess I can tell WE in sorrow from the fact that we do not get a report from you. And we have the impression that the HTC team does nothing to resolve this issue. If this is not the case, then why do not you write what's going on in your labs, why do not you ask us to help you by test, because we have a suitable HMD for this?

Ask me if you need data. I can send you a video, photo and other data. Let's work together!

HMD Serial and date of purchase:

    S/N: FA6ANJJ01123 2016/10

Grey Screen: does  it flicker or stay solid grey?

The first 20-40 minutes all works fine, and then grey screen appear when HMD directed to certain side. If I keep watching to “certain side” it will be stay solid grey. If I turn quick my head (HMD) through “certain side” then it will be flick for a littlebit time.
    Temperature of room ~35 C
Temperature of surface of HMD (near camera) ~40 C when it plugged more then hour to AC.

  10. Vildan,

in your post all links except the first have a solution and I think they have a problem of another kind (they do not mention about time (5,10,20... min) before the appearance of gray flashes). Only first link (by iDan_UK) is simmilar to my/our issue and it not solved.
