  1. Since day one of owning the vive (from when they first came out) I have ALWAYS had issues with the whole system. Some times it works flawless as if no issues, then you can just turn it on one day and it struggles to detect base stations, or you get no audio or a blue screen on the headset even if you were only just using it the night before without issue this is no guarantee it will work the next day. I think most of the faults are down to drivers/usb, but why they should fail especially if all you might have done is shut down the pc. For me the solution that often works is just inplug it from one usb port and put it in another (usb3/2 makes no real different, a possible scapegoat). One of the biggest issues I have had since day one which can disappear for months but then return later with vengeance. If I press the menu button (one under the trackpad) the vive controller (any controller doesn't matter) locks up, the controllers will start flashing in SteamVR app and say "Controller disconnected", both base station icons turn grey but then 30 seconds later show online again. the headset turns blue. You have to wait 30 seconds or so, hold down the menu button on the joypad and then it connects again, and works right. This is issue is very random, I have never ever found a fix for it, USB2 possibly makes the issue happen even more.
  2. How can a stationary product just decide to fail... Not used the VR for a while maybe 4 or 5 months. Decided to install it all again yesterday (fresh windows install). My basestations are wall mounted and both have been "asleep" since last use. Install everything, started up the VR software and only one base station powered up, I had to press the button on the back of the other to start it up. It all worked fine and the game worked. I then closed Steam VR and that same Basestation never powered down. Looking in Power management this one device has an exclamation mark. Nothing I can do to rectify that. Tried Stream both normal and Beta SteamVR. Used a usb3 and usb2 for the for the hub tried removing and reinstalling the BT driver (but like I said its a fresh windows install)
  3. The default ear buds are atrocious horrible little things. The cable is so small that if you move you head too quickly they will actually unplug. I never used them really. Before I bought the audio strap I just used my normal wireless hard (Corsair Void Pro). I also had to use this for the Mic as EVERYONE always commented that they could never hear me when I use the mic built into the headset. I was reluctant at buying the headstrap at £100 it certainly wasn't value for money, it's worth maybe halve that sadly I never say it on sale and in detest I paid the money and bought one.
  4. I use OBS, does exactly what you need for live streaming to youtube, twitch, facebook etc. Pretty intuative to setup aswell
  5. Just had the following email from sky, pah doesn't support Vive :(
  6. Try the following. You should find the files in you steam installation directory for Steam VR then (tools\lighthouse\firmware\lighthouse_tx\archive\htc_2.0) 1. With the base station unpowered, connect via a micro-B USB cable to your PC. 2. Hold the mode button down and plug in the power lead. 3. You can release the button once it enumerates as a USB mass storage device. 4. The drive will be called “CRP_DISABLED” and contain one file “firmware.bin”, delete that file. 5. Copy over onto the drive the “lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-calibration-rescue-244.bin” file. 6. Once the copy is complete, pull out the power lead. 7. Wait a few seconds then plug in the power again. Be sure not to press the mode button while powering it up this time. 8. In a couple of seconds it should rapidly flash green or red. Green means it succeeded. 9. If it is flashing red that means it couldn’t automatically fix it and I’ll need to look at the unit to work out why. 10. Unplug the power again. 11. Repeat steps 1 thru 7 but using the “lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-244-2016-03-12.bin” firmware file instead of the rescue one. 12. The base should now be working again, confirm by setting its mode to "A" and tracking with it alone (the other base turned off). Once it is confirmed working you can add back the other base.
  7. If that is in response to my post, these are not pirate keys. There are various key only resellers on line, and big ones like Green Man Gaming, G2A, Humble Bundle and GOG. They simply buy keys direct from distributors to sell (just like shops would do with boxed products). But nearly 99.9% of the time it is a cheaper ALOT cheaper than direct (just like it is with shops). With physical game stores becoming a thing of the past, retailers have moved to selling online. It's a common misconception that games for example that are sold on Steam can only be bought on Steam. You do have the option to shop around, physical products are long gone and you are just provided with a steam key to activate the product on steam (or what ever launcher is required). I have many many MANY games on steam but I have rarely ever bought them directly from steam itself.
  8. I use https://gizmovr.com/ and not just for youtube vr videos ;)
  9. Probably not good to place your email in an open thread. Also $50 is a bit pricey. https://www.cdkeys.com/pc/games/fallout-4-vr-pc-steam-cd-key
  10. I had very similar when viveport was installed. I had to uninstall every single items in add remove programs (5 or 6 different vive related items). I also had very similar when I would use steam VR and then beta version and switch back and forth between the two. Curious have you tested without a linkbox at all, plug the hdmi directly into the headset from the gpu?
