  1. I find the newer 3 in 1 cable to be wildly better than the ribbon. For me, this was a huge upgrade and made it a lot easier to wait for wireless. I used the ribbon cable for almost a year before switching over. As excited as I am for wireless VR, it's not as big of a deal now for most games since the new cable isn't as obnoxious.
  2. This might help you avoid holes in the wall: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001M4HUGA/ref=mp_s_a_1_18?ie=UTF8&qid=1493735153&sr=8-18&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=floor+to+ceiling+pole Used with: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00DJ5XH4O/ref=pd_aw_sim_421_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=T2T790B8BP2RX8D7EKC8&dpPl=1&dpID=51oCHwgRvBL
  3. I am trying to figure out the best way to jump using the SteamVR plugin for Unity. I can get in the air just fine but I'm having trouble with landing. Did anyone know the best way to figure out the location of your feet?
  4. This ended up working. I cut the plugs off and attached them to a longer cable. The male connector they sent was actually 3.5mm and not 3.8mm like advertised but the female plug was 3.8mm. The 3.5mm seems to be working but I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing this :) I tried ordering more 3.8mm male connectors since they're onyl $2 shipped. I'll report back if these are the right size.
  5. Personally I use the OpenVR SDK in Unity with Valve's Interaction System include in the SteamVR plugin which can be downloaded from the asset store. This gives you easy teleporting and the ability to grab and throw things. Use the player prefab included with the asset. This works with both the Vive and Rift. https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/32647
  6. Had another thought...can you tell if the Base Stations are still working once tracking seems to stop? Have you tried using the long cable between the two Base Stations (not sure if this was already asked)?
  7. My guess at this point is a bad headset. Have you tried it with just a single lighthouse instead of both to see if anything different happens? I think it's supposed to be set to A in single mode.
  8. A problem I had when I first got my Vive was that I had it plugged into the USB 3.1 port on my Asus Z170. Apparently there was done optimization on this port that didn't work well with the Vive. I moved it to a 3.0 port and the problems went away. Can't say I remember what the exact problem was but I remember having to not use the 3.1 port.
  9. Personally, I found that once I upgraded to the newer 3 in 1, cable management wasn't much of an issue. This may just be because I was used to the original flat cable that was quite a bit heavier and more awkward. If anything, I would look into a belt clip like: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1574006
  10. I've used this to watch YouTube VR videos on the Vive. It requires you to use a keyboard and I have to restart it multiple times before it'll actually work but it's free. https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/40tci4/youtube_vr_3603d_streaming_player_for_vive/ I'm really hoping this feature gets added to Vive Video.
  11. To stay thread relevant, Steam name is skittulls
  12. I have both a Vive and Rift. The build of the headset, integrated audio, and controllers on the Rift I think are better. The tracking in the Vive and logistics of setup are so much better though that the Vive is without question (in my opinion) the better headset. Also, lighthouse allows for other accessories. I don't know if Constellation has the bandwidth to compete. I got my Vive last May (2016) and my Rift this past March (2017). I am happy to have both. If I could only have one though, it would be a Vive. The games are an interesting topic though. Rift has some nice exclusives but supposedly with Revive you can get them to work on a Vive. I just hook up my Rift instead. Not trying to turn this into a Rift vs. Vive thread... Just wanted to help others be confident with their purchase. I really like both of them.
  13. That was one of my guesses! :)
  14. Thank you for the input. I do have some other headphones which work great. Also, I plan on getting the deluxe audio strap once that's released. My interest in the earbuds is from a collector perspective. I have a weird obsession with VR right now and to me, missing the earbuds is like having an original NES but missing a controller or the plug or something :)
  15. My earbuds that came with my Vive stopped working. Is there any way to get another pair of the original earbuds?
