  1. @Sieory You definitely want a better GPU. The 1050 is a somewhat outdated budget card at this point. I'd recommend a 1060 or 1070 at the very least at this point. Everything else looks great though, you should be good with that CPU and RAM. Thank you, -Jack S
  2. @bbart123 To it's full capabilities? No. You're not going to be able to run every piece of VR content at max settings with that hardware, however, it will certainly work just fine for normal use. It exceeds the minimum requirements still. You'll be just fine with that rig. Thank you, -Jack S
  3. @Agarza50 Check your email, they should have responded with an alternate solution for you to consider. Thank you, -Jack S
  4. @Agarza50 I see you've got this repair request already set up. I'll take a look at it. Have you already sent it in? Thanks, -Jack S
  5. @Kenny Hi Kenny, You can't reduce the framerate for good reason. You need about 90hz for VR or it starts to look really bad and potenitally even uncomfortably bad. 90hz is the minimum for most VR. Were you able to find any methods of access the full BIOS menu? You may need to contact HP support. Thank you,
  6. @Conquest Hi there,, You'll need to contact our support and have your base station repaired. That error indicates a hardware failure. Thank you
  7. @Kenny I looked into the BIOS situation with some HP PCs, and it seems that the advanced options not readily available as they might usually be. It's possible that you're not able to ensure that the PCIe slots are running at 3.0 levels of power. You may want to contact HP about that. I'd also suggest updating the BIOS if you're not already on the latest version. The wireless card draws a lot more from the CPU than the Vive does wired. Have you tried tweaking the supersampling and motion smoothing settings in SteamVR? Thank you, -Jack S
  8. @puffin1 It needs to be repaired. You'll want to contact our Live Chat support. www.vive.com/support > Contact Us > Contact Us Thank you! -Jack S
  9. @RedVillian The red light happens, but it's uncommon. I'm not going to directly comment on hardware from other manufacturers, but you can do an internet search and see that situation was quite different. @Zephroth It's neither. What it is, is that a part that spins 100 times a second and relies on milimeter tracking can be susceptible to damage from external sources or wear and tear. Once it no longer can operate reliably within the parameters of acceptable tracking, the system alerts you that it needs to be repaired. Thank you, -Jack S
  10. @BrianClough Hi, it sounds like you're having some trouble with your wireless adapter. Performance can be degraded simply because the wireless card requires a lot more from your CPU and your motherboard than it would normally. Make sure your motherboard firmware/drivers are fully up to date and that your PCI-e slots are set to 3.0 mode for full power. Also, what CPU do you have? Thank you, -Jack S
  11. @Hunees Hi there. Thanks for posting. I am going to have to ask you some questions and get a clearer idea of what's going on. What type of VIve do you have? What GPU do you have? What motherboard are you using now? When you say your "HMD connection keeps getting cut off" Can you please specify more clearly what you mean by that? Are you seeing a grey screen? No display? Are you using video and or/audio? Thank you, -Jack S
  12. Hi, @JacobDeRosenoir Give this a try. I'm wondering if there's some corrupted drivers or something that aren't being properly removed. Use USBDeview to manually uninstall drivers: USBDeview is a free tool that is automatically included with the installation of SteamVR. The default path to this tool is ...\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\tools\bin\win32\thirdparty or available for download here: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html (scroll all the way to the bottom for the zip download). This tool allows users to manually inspect all USB devices that have installed drivers, and is useful when it is suspected the Vive drivers are not being removed using the SteamVR ‘Remove all SteamVR USB Devices’ feature, or when it is believed there may be conflicts caused by other USB devices. Non-Vive related USB devices should only be uninstalled in this way if there is believed to be a driver conflict caused by another USB device. Removing Vive USB Drivers Disconnect all Vive cables from the PC. Launch the USBDeview program. From the Options tab, enable Display Disconnected Devices. Sort the list of devices by VendorID (click VendorID at the top of the list). Locate any devices with VendorID 28de (these are the Vive components) and uninstall them. a. To uninstall, right click the device and select Uninstall Selected Device. You may need to click Yes to confirm the selection. After uninstalling all devices with the 28de in the VendorID column, close USBDeview and reboot the PC. Reconnect the Vive cables to the PC. Ensure all cables are properly connected and then launch SteamVR. This will begin the re-installation of the Vive related drivers. Give that a try and let me know the result. -Jack S
  13. @agitaxx It probably needs to be totally reflashed. Sounds like something is wrong with the device itself. I'd recommend contacting our support at www.vive.com/support > Contact Us > Contact Us > Live Chat to get that RMA going. Thank you, -Jack S
  14. I'd check the cables. Maybe it's not connected all the way or one of the cables is bad? You could check the battery too and make sure it's actually pushing power to the device. Thank you, -Jack S
  15. Hi @DRabbit It seems like you've got a dying laser rotor. You'll want to contact support at www.vive.com/support > Contact Us > Contact Us and select Live Chat to set up an RMA with our agents. If you're curious, what's happening is that the more recent firmware update was changed to detect tracking failures that were not previously detected. That's why when you roll it back it won't track but otherwise seems fine. The old firmware doesn't see the problem. Thank you, -Jack S
  16. @nGex Hi there, looks like you've got a dying laser rotor. You'll want to contact support at www.vive.com/support > Contact Us > Contact Us and select Live Chat to set up an RMA with our agents. Thank you, -Jack S
  17. This is very strange. HDCP is supposed to be a content protection mechanism built into HDMI, essentially a hardware DRM solution. Franlky, it doesn't work particularly well, but it is an inherent component with HDMI cables and ports as well as some other connection standards. As for why it would pop up during specific events during the game, that's even more puzzling. If it's specific to certain titles, perhaps other users have experienced similar issues while playing those titles?
  18. @yadferhad The next thing I would check is my GPU drivers. Reinstall them if necessary, but if that doesn't work, I would think that the issue may lie in the HMD itself and you may need to set up an RMA. Thank you, -Jack S
  19. Of course you can unplug them without damage. The bluetooth feature just puts them into sleep mode; they are still powered in that state. Thank you, -Jack S
  20. Sounds like one of two things: 1) Weird binding issue with the buttons 2) Hardware needs to be replaced Can you help explain further. Do you mean that when you press the touchpad it acts as if you pressed the system button or do you mean that when you try to press the touchpad, the system button is also physically depressed? Thank you, -Jack S
  21. Any time you get a bad component DOA, it's always a safer bet to get the full kit replaced while you can. That goes for Vive or any other consumer electronic product. Thanks, -Jack S
  22. Wireless has known compatibility issues on AMD Ryzen hardware. If you just purchased your equipment, I would highly recommend returning it for a refund. Unfortunately, we have been unable to resolve the issue due to the complexity of the problem, though testing is ongoing. Thank you, -Jack S
  23. Please contact support at www.vive.com/support Contact Us > Contact Us > Live Chat Thank you! -Jack S
  24. You can't use a splitter with VR. You need a dedicated cable and port. You also cannot use an adapter. What ports does your GPU have? Idealy, you'd use HDMI for your Vive (or DisplayPort for Vive Pro) and whatever else you have for your monitor. Thanks, -Jack S
  25. I wonder if this is related to the latest windows update. Have you tried rolling back to the previous version? Thank you, -Jack S
