Before pivoting into VR, I worked as a filmmaker with the performance artist Marina Abramovic for nine years, including on her seminal MOMA show “The Artist is Present.”   About a year and a half ago, I made my directorial debut in the VR medium with my first piece, Giant. The piece premiered at Sundance before

Gravity sucks in Homebound

In VR, no-one can hear you scream. Actually, everyone around you probably can. Our wannabe astronaut is Wiktor Öhman, who led us through re-entry.     Hello Wiktor! What’s your day job, and what did you do on Homebound?   My name is Wiktor Öhman and I’m a 3D artist, currently working as an Art Lead at Quixel. On Homebound

Tilt Brush by Google - now on Viveport

Many people first experience virtual reality while standing (or sitting) inside a projected sphere, as they take in a 360-degree video. While this can be immersive and exciting, the moment you move into a fully room-scale, 3D space… everything changes.   It’s the same for the creation of digital art. While Photoshop and similar programs have perfected the process of creating art digitally, the next dimension may literally be that. Tilt Brush, by Google, takes you into the third dimension of di
